Potty training - keep going or give it afew weeks

DS is 2 and a half. He is showing all the right signs and understands all about the potty. He even got on the toilet once himself.

However now we have started potty training (it's only been two days) but he doesn't want to even try. He completely understands as every time I ask him to go to the potty he says no I don't want to and runs off. I have took his nappy/pants off and up to know he has just do it on the floor. I feel he knows as he keeps telling me to put his nappy on and saying he doesn't like the potty.

I know it's only been two days but I when I started with my DD she obviously had lots of accidents but did have a willingness to go and from day 1 did sometimes use it.

Would you keep going or maybe give it a couple of weeks? I really want him trained over the summer months.

I would give him a break and try again when he is showing a desire to do it.

I would carry on but use the toilet with a child seat. Nothing wrong with a bit of bribery either. I use to read to mine to keep them there. ( not for hours by the way) I started all of mine at 2.

I used to take DS to the loo every time I went, then ask him if he needed to go and repeated the manipulative mantra 'big boys use the toilet'.

Try again later, it's not worth the hassle

My DS was much the same. He knew exactly when he needed to go but just point blank refused to use the potty or toilet. It used to drive me to distraction. I gave up eventually because it just stressed me out too much. Lo and behold, a few weeks later he decided he wanted to wear pants and that was it. Think we had one accident. So I would definitely say leave it for a bit.

You said he asks for the nappy. Is it before he pees on the floor? Because that's what mine did. So I would just run her to the toilet. And she got that 😉 but she was a little upset about peeing herself

Child seat on the toilet, and a reward every time they do something on there. Show them the rewards in advance to bribe them to try. I used chocolate buttons but you could use stickers.
Put him in pants, don’t let him go on the floor, they often don’t like being in wet / dirty pants.

Btw we have the prince lionheart weepod (the hard one). Amazing!! We bought 3 🤷🏻‍♀️ so that tells you how much we like it (2 bathrooms and one for my mum's house)
