Diarrhoea - worried something is wrong

I have bouts of diarrhoea several times a week for the last few months. There is no consistent trigger for this happening but the pain is horrible, keeps me up at night and makes me sick.

is it worth contacting the GP? I don’t want to waste there time!

Yes, it’s worth contacting your GP. Symptoms like these warrant investigation, especially pain so bad it keeps you awake. Maybe keep a food diary to see if there’s any triggers? But yes, contact your GP on Monday and use the term “change in bowel habit”. Hope you get answers soon.

Yea definitely see the GP, it could ‘just’ be IBS or it could be something much more seriously where timely treatment is important for a positive long term outcome.

You really should see your GP, unexplained changes to bowel habits need to be investigated. Your doctor will probably take bloods to begin with and follow on from there.

Any change in bowel habit lasting more than 2 weeks needs investigations. Speak to your GP as soon as you can.

Definitely start a food/poo diary and contact your GP.

Thank you all 👍🏻

Will call the GP on Monday
