A fat 8? A small 10? A medium 10?

Anyone else with similar measurements?

I've lost some vanity pounds and this is my new size. Not sure I should start ordering size 8s online or I'm a 10?

Sorry that's in cm! Not inches.

I guess in inches it would be something like: 34.5 - 27 - 36.8

That sounds very much like an 8 to me. I measured bigger than that when I was buying an 8.

Frenchyfrog · 02/06/2022 19:04

Just depends what shop you’re buying from, and even that’s not guaranteed. I have two dresses from the same shop (Cos), one is an 8, the other is 18 - both fit well!! Absolutely bonkers. Just order a few in a couple of sizes to gauge the best fit. It is annoying though.

ForestFae · 02/06/2022 19:05

I’d guess a standard 10 from that? Maybe an 8 in tops.

schmalex · 02/06/2022 19:05

It differs by brand - I'd say an 8-10 but most brands will have a size guide on their website.

Exactly. So confusing. I've been looking online at size guides and they're all slightly different!

I'd say 8-10 generally.

Shakeitshakeitbaby · 02/06/2022 19:07

Disclaimer I'm not so sure about top half, I have never been anywhere near an 8 om the top, bottom half I would defo try an 8.

Exactfare · 02/06/2022 19:08

same as me, 8 on top (and dresses) and 10 on bottom

I was a 34, 25, 36 before my third dc a year ago (very similar!) and I was a size 6 in tops and an 8 in bottoms? I'm 5"8, I feel like height is also kinda relevant.. Not sure.
I'm a chunkier version of the above now 🤣

Similar to me. I'm a 32DD (which bit of your busy were you measuring?) - 27 - 34 and fit a standard size 8.

DrDetriment · 02/06/2022 19:21

Bust not busy!

I think it’s best to look at where the clothing item clings too. If you’re small chested and the dress fits only around there go for the smallest possible (I do this, have not been blessed with big boobs!). If it’s fitted over the hips, go for that measurement.

user7637293 · 02/06/2022 20:30

Thanks @Frenchyfrog that's a perfect way to dress for my shape, thanks!

Start with size 8-10. DD (when a healthy weight) is quite similar.

Sceptre86 · 03/06/2022 07:40

I had similar measurements prior to having kids and was a size 8 all over. I could wear a size 6 up top at that point too. Nowhere near that 8 years and 3 kids later, sadly.

TibetanTerrah · 03/06/2022 07:45

It really does depend on the shop. I'm 35 26 35 and recently bought from next and boohoo, bought 10s and would have struggled to get in an 8.

I also bought some boob tubes from H&M to wear instead of a bra under some "interesting" tops with strange necklines/backless and just about fit in their XS Confused

primark I always get 8-10 and they fit fine.

Yes, after kids our shape changes 😭 I used to have a tiny waist and now it just looks really thick in comparison to the rest of my body.

Id say 10. Im 32 - 27/28- 37 and im a comfy 10.

I used to be an 8 and tried my size 8 shorts on and they dont fit

bluesky45 · 03/06/2022 10:29

You will probably have to check size guides for each shop until you get used to it and remember. I think I used ASOS as a general guide and my measurements were similar to yours, maybe slightly smaller and I was an 8. I've put some of the weight back on now and am an annoying 8-10, somewhere in between! But trying to lose it again so only buying 8s and making myself uncomfortable until I do lose!

Thick waist at 27"? I'm slimmish but haven't had a 27" waist since I was about 12!
