Help - I’ve lost the class toy pet!

Lostfloppy · 02/06/2022 09:30

My DD was given the class ‘pet’ for half term and has to document what he got up to.

Problem is, we’ve lost him! We took him to the farm and must have left him there. I’ve called the farm and they don’t have him, Google/eBay isn’t helping me find a replacement and so I’m hoping the power of mumsnet will help.

It’s Floppy from Biff, Chip and Kipper. If anyone has one laying around that they don’t need I would be incredibly grateful.

Currently feeling like a terrible mum and hoping the kids in the class believe that Floppy has dressed up as a corgi for the jubilee weekend!

I hope the picture attaches ok.

Shite…!

Needanotherholidayasap · 02/06/2022 09:33

Can you say Lizzie has invited him down for the week end? Give you time to find a new one!!

Hellocatshome · 02/06/2022 09:34

Could Floppy have gone on an amazing worldwide tour and sent random toy of your choice into class in his place? Floppy could send postcards from all the lovely places he is visiting. The actual class pet (a mouse) died in our care one half term now thats bad mum territory.

AnnaSW1 · 02/06/2022 09:39

@Hellocatshome was the mouse's death linked to your user name? That made me laugh!

Lostfloppy · 02/06/2022 10:03

@Hellocatshome yikes yes an actual pet dying is far worse! Poor you!

Who are the publishers? Maybe it was a promo doll?

(of course you can tell the teacher the fox ‘went tot live in a farm’).

Hellocatshome · 02/06/2022 10:10

@AnnaSW1 as far as I'm aware it was natural causes we have had several small rodenty pets and not of our feline inhabitants have ever seemed interested im them they are all far too lazy to actually bother themselves.

Was the farm yesterday? Give it a day for other people to walk round and maybe find it and had it in.

With a message “see you next year”

And hope the kids have short memories by the time they move class!

Op if it makes you feel any better the class rabbit died on my watch😥Small village primary school, and me and another girl were on duty to feed said rabbit in its hutch at the weekend. We fed him but come Monday he was dead😭

We had a school hamster that "lived" for 8 years. I wonder how many time it was replaced by distraught parents?

We also lost the beaver DS had to look after for Beavers. Years later I found it carefully hidden because DS didn't want to return it....

Yes, get an ‘exotic’ cuddly toy as a replacement and do this! Maybe try and photoshop the original toy in to an appropriate scene, eg if you buy a penguin send a photo of the dog in a snowy place…As a teacher I’d be grateful you’d come up with some sort of cover story for me 😂

BeeEllEyePeePeeEye · 02/06/2022 10:23

BeeEllEyePeePeeEye · 02/06/2022 10:28

BeeEllEyePeePeeEye · 02/06/2022 10:23

Is this it?

Or rather not the same but do as a replacement?

LIZS · 02/06/2022 10:31

Checked car, pushchair, all bags, rucksacks, hallway, wherever shoes/coats were left?

balalake · 02/06/2022 10:38

Jubilee visit definitely. Hope you find it soon.

Hawkins001 · 02/06/2022 10:41

All the best op

GanderingGoose · 02/06/2022 10:41

Could floppy return like this after celebrating the jubilee by having had a nice new hair do?

Lostfloppy · 02/06/2022 11:11

@BeeEllEyePeePeeEye and @GanderingGoose I thought he could have had bad haircut 😄

@fyn oh my goodness thank you so much for finding that! I’ve messaged them and hope they get back to me. I don’t live near there but my auntie does by some twist of fate!

Our class had two of the bloody things! Both very similar dogs.... I imagine someone thought they'd lost the first one, replaced with similar and found the first again 😂.

BettieSpaghetti · 02/06/2022 11:29

I've always known Floppy was a fucking liability! 😂
Hope you find a solution OP!

SweetMystery · 02/06/2022 12:07

Buy Spike from the Rugrats (see eBay pic below).
Tell school that poor Floppy hasn’t been well…
🤣

I've seen plenty of threads on here about how annoying it is to have the class bear/toy come home, and having to think of interesting things to do with it - maybe the other parents in your class will be glad you've lost it, @Lostfloppy?
