Pain weeks after smear

Hi everyone. I’m not sure if this is the right place to put this but I’d like some advice if possible.

So I gave birth to my 3rd and final baby 4 months ago, it was a normal delivery and recovery was really smooth.

Fast forward to a month ago (3months pp) and I had my 2nd ever smear.
During the procedure it hurt, felt like I was being jabbed with a knife, the nurse also made me bleed and I had pains and spotting for days afterwards. The pains would come and go and then I started my period which lasted several days longer than I’m used to. This pain became more intense over this time which I put down to pms but now 1 month after the smear I’ve been in intense pain.

The pain is mainly in my pelvic, lower back and stomach and is like period cramps mixed with sharp stabbing pains and stomach aches.

my smear results came back normal.

I have spoken to several drs who have said they’re not sure what’s causing this. Ive been treated for thrush to rule it out and was referred for an ultrasound a week ago so waiting the appointment to come through.

dr said if pain gets worse when I should contact out of hours or go to a&e

My question is has anyone experienced anything like this before and if so what was the cause/did the pain go away.

I wonder if it’s just coincidence and it’s not the smear that’s caused this. However, did they do a swab to check for infection ?
