Weed smell stinking out entire corridor

I live in a housing association block of flats. Someone moved in about 4 days ago and the smell of weed is filling the whole corridor each evening. Sometimes I can smell it in the lift. I don’t have a problem with someone smoking, but I don’t want to be surrounded by the smell. Would reporting it be a shitty thing to do?

If you know who they are, and they drive, then the police.

The police probably will fake interest unless their growing/selling . Its not worth their time for the everyday tocker. Anything citric smelling will help a bit, candels ect

Buy peppermint oil and pour it out in the corridor.

It is so strong. If anyone complains say its because of this mysterious weed smell.

My neighbours would leave their rubbish outside their front door which is opposite mine. And their rubbish smell would come into my home.

After telling the landlord and passive aggressively putting my rubbish out a few times they did nothing.

So I poured the peppermint oil all down the corridor. And denied it was me but said maybe someone wanted to cover the rubbish smell.

They stopped putting their rubbish outside

I live in exactly the same situation. We are in a corridor of eight flats. All families except one single guy who is at the opposite end of corridor to me yet currently sitting here at 9.30am and it's all I can smell. Never thought of doing anything about it because on the whole he keeps himself to himself. Realistically I don't know what could be done anyway. It's annoying for sure but would the HA do anything? You read so much about terrible neighbours that in my case I feel "better the devil you know" I would put up with the smell over aggression or noise. As for the police I can't see them prioritising this unless as pp said there is driving involved.

It's a call to environmental health and police. Police won't act but will log and you will over time have a record. Environmental health will issue notices and stop notices I think.

Peppermint oil is a thought but it’s a new build and really smart and I don’t want to stain the new carpet. I’ll see how it goes. If they’re quiet and keep themselves to themselves that’s the main thing . It is really strong though and I hate smelling it when I’m inside my flat.

Best get them to tackle it. Ozone generators are pretty good. They could also look to vaping.

If they remain resistant to suggestions, tell the local ne'er do wells their address is where to get "top gear" and see how quick they clean up.

You could tell the police, but it just gets embarrassing after a while.

If the housing association placed a new tenant in your building and they are being anti-social, start by reporting them to your housing officer/whoever is the building manager. Tell them if this is not addressed you will involve the police.

We had something slightly different a few years ago: kids who did not live n the building gathering in common parts to smoke weed and leaving a mess. in the end the housing association changed our entrance doors to make them more secure and they worked with the local police (neighbourhood team) for them to make regular visits to the estate. They did catch some of them and we have not had any issues for years. If you and your neighbours complain, the housing association will have to takes some action, just keep badgering them.

whitehorsegirl. I’m reporting it to one of the housing officers on Monday. It was that strong tonight I could smell it from inside my flat. It’s awful. I’m glad
you got your problem sorted.
