Introvert? Love your job? What do you do?

Hello! I'm an introvert doing a comms/marketing office-based role. I was so happy during the working from home period, but now we are returning to work 2/5 days - I cant bear it and am finding it so hard to adjust. I cant focus and just want to sit by myself and get on with things. I leave work with a headache having achieved very little.

For context my work has 30 people and the office is a single room with one long desk that everyone sits at like a dinner table. No partitions. Radio plays all day, lots of small talk. It really doesnt suit me.

I'll have to look for something else but wondered if there is such a thing as an introvert-friendly role? What do you do and enjoy?

Can you look for a similar role in a company that has a different set-up? Sounds like you enjoy the work but not the environment.

I love data and work as a data assistant in a school. I spend most of my time buried in a spreadsheet. Hardly anyone visits me and I have my own office. Of course you need to like data/spreadsheets/information management systems and can survive on the not so brilliant pay. Even better, is that I work some holidays when there's no pupils in the school either, sometimes I don't see anyone Grin

Sounds lovely @IntrovertOnALunchBreak I do like a good spreadsheet too!

I think you are right, if I could work from home all the time my job would be bearable. Maybe a freelance career in marketing would suit me, but I think self-employment takes guts, and I'd be worried about the dry spells.

I’m an introvert and secretly have loved the move to WFH. I’m lucky because it’s been decided we can carry on indefinitely.

I’m IT Support (and also love a good spreadsheet!) so what we do is easily tracked by our manager.

I know this line of work is not for everyone though.

As was said by others, could you look for a similar job that offers WFH?
