Does anyone remember what this was called. It may even have been 60s. It predates me but we had this on video. I'd been going to show this to DC, as we've been watching some old programmes, though I'm not sure they'll thank me for it.

It's about a girl who goes to live with family, possibly after the death of her parents. She dislikes the family but meets a ghost girl from the past and is sometimes able to enter that time period when she was alive. I think she's torn between the two places. The ghost girl I think died in an ice skating accident.

There's another series I remember where there was a secret room and a body. Or if anyone can recommend anything similar that would be appreciated.

Neither rings a bell with me. I do remember a series where some children lived in a house and some distant stones gradually kept coming closer over time. Usually at night I recall and they felt as if the stones could see them.

Gatekeeper · 31/05/2022 17:02

the secret room one was The Clifton House Mystery

Just going to check Clifton House but that does ring a bell.

Tom's Midnight Garden has a very similar story line, if you're looking for other suggestions

@TargusEasting the stones sounds very much like the book Marianne Dreams so perhaps it was an adaptation of that?

Gatekeeper · 31/05/2022 19:48

@Quirkycarrot the programme Escape into night that I mentioned in my post above is the tv adaption of Marianne Dreams

Quirkycarrot · 31/05/2022 19:55

@Gatekeeper oh wow I didn't know that! I'd look it up only the book scared me enough 😅

Gatekeeper · 31/05/2022 20:08

it was a bloody scary programme!!

It was Come Back Lucy. I have the book of it. A lovely story. Time shift stories were very popular in the middle of the twentieth century and I loved them - The Children of Green Knowe, Charlotte Sometimes and Tom’s Midnight Garden, which is one of the best children’s stories ever - beautifully written and with an ending that I’m ashamed to say brings a lump to my throat every time.
