So for about a month my nipple has had a dent in it. It’s not too bad but definitely looks different to the other one. Caught sight of it in the mirror today and deffo got a dent in it. Apart from the worst what else could it be? I can’t feel any lumps.

I don't know op, but please make an urgent appointment and get it properly checked out.

ButterflyBitch · 31/05/2022 14:39

I’ve already got an appointment for next week that was supposed to be about something else. I didn’t think it looked that bad but that’s viewing from above if you see what I mean, when I saw it in the mirror it looked worse.
I had blood tests recently (for peri meno reasons) and the gp said that there were no signs of cancer in the blood so that’s good right?

Honestly, I'd try and get another apt earlier (and it does fall under the "urgent appointment" requirements) because my friend had a lucky escape with a very serious form of breast cancer. Hers presented as irritation and she had to push hard over several apts to be referred, when she was diagnosed she had to start treatment the same day.

I'm not trying to panic you and it could be completely innocent, certainly hormonal changes can effect things, but its better to be safe than sorry and its not something I'd take a risk on myself.

Do you think a wait of a week is really too long? I can try to get an urgent appointment though.

I would call and try to get a dedicated appointment for this sooner. Either fill out e-consult or ring the surgery and say what it is for. I did this and was offered an appointment that week.

Last year or so I made an appointment when I felt a lump, which concerned me. The GP did a physical examination (was asked to remove my top and bra) and then essentially they felt the breast tissue and under the arms. The GP said they didn't think it was serious but put me on the 2 week pathway for the breast clinic anyway (which is standard).

Had the appointment and a scan done and was fortunate it was an uncomplicated cyst that left of it's own accord eventually. I wasn't overly worried at any point but did feel the NHS 2 week pathway was excellent, as were the breast clinic. They're wanting to rule out anything serious and catch it early if it exists, not suggesting they think it might be cancer should you be referred.

Sending beat wishes for your appointment and hope you are able to get one soon OP.

Yes get an urgent appointment. Don't wait even a week.

Haveatakeaway · 31/05/2022 15:07

I'd say try and get an appointment before the bank holiday's if you can

ButterflyBitch · 31/05/2022 15:10

Ok thank you everyone. I’ll call and see if I can get one asap.

I too would push for a sooner appointment if you can OP, as much to hopefully ease your mind than anything else.

gamerchick · 31/05/2022 15:17

If you can't, ask them to double up your appointment. You need to get it looked at.

ButterflyBitch · 31/05/2022 15:24

I’ve got a phone appointment for this afternoon. Apparently if they think they need to see me then the doctor can sort that when we speak 🤷🏻‍♀️

Got appointment for next Monday so I guess it’s not that urgent. Which is fine as I only got myself in a panic today but I think I’ll work along the lines it’s hormonal or something and see what doc says on Monday.

Basilbrushgotfat · 31/05/2022 16:07

I'm sorry you got into a panic, op, certainly didnt want to make that worse. But you've done the right thing and it's still better to be seen as soon as possible. Hopefully it's all a storm in a teacup though and fingers crossed for you.

ButterflyBitch · 31/05/2022 16:33

Thanks Basil. Fingers crossed all is well.

My surgery did a telephone call on the Monday, seen me the Tuesday afternoon and sent me for an ultrasound on the Friday.
But the hospital also phoned me on the Wednesday to make sure I knew I had an app there in case my appointment letter didn't reach me in time. They took everything very seriously fast. I was very impressed with NHS

I would also push for earlier than your Monday app. It's good you speak to someone today but don't let them make you wait. The services are there

ButterflyBitch · 02/06/2022 17:57

Sorry two I didn’t see your message. I think because of the bank holidays then Monday is the earliest. I’m sure it’ll be fine though. It’s only a few days wait. Fingers crossed if GP thinks anything’s amiss then they’ll get me sorted quickly.
