Avocado - it’s honestly the perfect weaning food, high in the good fats and vitamins 😊

Simonjt · 30/05/2022 16:36

Sweet potato

Thelnebriati · 30/05/2022 16:38

Fruit puree and pureed veggies in cheese sauce. He wore most of it and I have the photos to prove it Grin

MajorCarolDanvers · 30/05/2022 16:41

We always just gave a bit of whatever we were eating.

DS - raspberries cheese and naan bread

DD - roast beef, Yorkshire pudding

Both times it mostly got played with

KangarooKenny · 30/05/2022 16:42

Baby rice made with formula.

WindowCurtain · 30/05/2022 16:42

another Sweet potato here

ScarlettOHaraHamiltonKennedyButler · 30/05/2022 16:43

Carrot was the first for both of them, then I think it was sweet potato then on to fruit starting with pears.

Hope you are prepared for banana poo OP we thought our eldest had some kind of parasite when we first saw it.

avocadotofu · 30/05/2022 16:44

Cucumber or avocado I think.

daisychainsandrainbows · 30/05/2022 16:45

Many years ago I caught DD1 (age 18 months) spooning peach yogurt into DD2 (age 8 weeks). The baby was hoovering it up with enthusiasm, and was none the worse for it!

DD1 had previously (when 8 weeks old herself) lunged at my plate while sitting on my lap, and enjoyed eating smears of mashed potato off my finger.
I followed on later with batches of home cooked mixed veg, potato and cheese pureed and fed in small quantities, which both DDs liked.

ShowOfHands · 30/05/2022 16:52

Roast dinner both times.

mylittleyumyum · 30/05/2022 16:56

1st, (born late June) Christmas dinner - some shredded chicken, broccoli, mash and gravy. Planned to do the same with the 2nd, born 3 years later but she outsmarted me and had to have a Cheese String grappled from her paws at 5 months. A few days later I had to extricate a fallen sausage from her jaws at softplay. The sausage hadn't even fallen from our plate, god knows how long it had been hiding in the ball pit.

I did however upload a "first solid food" photo of her eating a hunk of broccoli...

DinosApple · 30/05/2022 17:01

DD1 a bit of mashed banana, mashed potato, avocado. It was literally a small taste.
Pureed broccoli absolutely stunk and it was the only thing she wouldn't eat.

DD2 could crawl just before 6 months - she swiped a cake from a visiting toddler as her first food 😁.

PurpleTrain11 · 30/05/2022 17:03

Steamed broccoli & carrots
Strips of avocado

linerforlife · 30/05/2022 17:06

A snatched green bean!

Camomila · 30/05/2022 17:10

DS1 was a stick of steamed sweet potato (from the supermarket)

DS2 was a stick of steamed carrot (from my parents' garden)

Cantgetausername87 · 30/05/2022 17:14

There are loads of good weaning books and websites. My DS had some cauliflower- we gave him non sweet veg purees for 2 weeks and then introduced sweeter purees. Theres no right or wrong way just see what fits you and your baby, try to have fun with it, and dont stress like
I did 😀

JustMaggie · 30/05/2022 17:15

DD1 home made apple purée
DD2 avocado

simoncowellsdog · 30/05/2022 17:16

Roast dinner here for both mine.

pitterypattery00 · 30/05/2022 17:18

Broccoli!

We used Ella's Kitchen weaning book, which I'd recommend, and did veg-led weaning.

On the Ella's Kitchen website you used to be able to sign up for a free weaning kit - worth checking if you still can.

MargosKaftan · 30/05/2022 17:20

Dc1 was sat on my lap on a hot day (in the shade!) about a month before I was ready to start weaning, and stole a handful of my dads mint choc chip ice-cream.

And of course I didn't learn from this, as dc2s first taste of food was to dunk her hand into the venison ragu I was eating and to eat that with much gusto.

In both cases I told the health visitor we'd started with baby rice.
