Avocado

SpaceJamtart · 30/05/2022 17:24

The only one I remember was some watermelon

TimBoothseyes · 30/05/2022 17:30

mashed carrot and swede that I was eating at the time. She followed my fork with her eyes and looked very cross when it went in my mouth and not hers, so I gave her some and some more until she had eaten the lot. 😁

Chocolate yoghurt stuff and those shop-bought purees.

barneymcgroo · 30/05/2022 17:40

Both DH and I are chefs. Gave DS1 cucumber and avocado.

Did we massively overthink it? Yes.

Did it all end up on the floor? Also yes.

RoobarbandCustud · 30/05/2022 17:42

Baby rice made with breast milk, and mango purée.

Furrbabymama87 · 30/05/2022 17:51

Baby porridge and rice for all 4 of mine I think. Youngest was a hungry baby and went very quickly onto baby jars and blended food.

Harrriet · 30/05/2022 18:11

I remember DS1 having carrot puree. DS2 had raspberry yoghurt fed by DS1 (I'd nipped to the loo) Honestly can't remember the next 3 but with Ds6 the dog must of dropped his dog biscuit near him and he was happily chomping on that😫

LillyLeaf · 30/05/2022 18:13

Brocoli, carrots sticks, sweet potato, avocado,

Sahara123 · 30/05/2022 18:15

Chocolate. At a few weeks old … Found her in her bouncy chair after her big sister had decided to feed it to her . See also cheese ! No lasting effects , it was in the days when we weaned at 12 weeks anyway !

DiscoBadgers · 30/05/2022 18:19

The first food we offered was broccoli and cucumber, but it was mostly plated with. The first thing he actually ate was the next day when he swiped avocado with chilli sauce on toast from DH’s plate. 5 years later and he still loves a bit of chilli sauce!

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind1 · 30/05/2022 18:21

Baby rice as advised by my health visitor.

Marmite27 · 30/05/2022 18:22

Cauliflower purée and a kiddy puff type crisp for the eldest.

pombears, mini cheddars, kinder chocolate and porridge for the youngest. Kindly fed by her big sister.

mrsfoof · 30/05/2022 18:25

Ice Cream (snuck a lick at 5 months when I wasn't paying attention Blush).

At 6 months, they had buttered toast, steamed broccoli and a peach as their first foods (not all at once).

NancyDrooo · 30/05/2022 18:25

Eldest: carefully prepared, per instructions, bland baby porridge. Lovingly video’d and sent to family to marvel at the special moment.

Youngest: pizza, because she was trying to launch herself at it from her bumbo seat. No photos.

IncompleteSenten · 30/05/2022 18:27

Can't remember. Baby rice or something like that I think.

RibNSaucyArseCrack · 30/05/2022 18:28

1st- banana and toast
2nd- white chocolate magnum. Don’t ask.

SedentaryCat · 30/05/2022 18:31

Eldest (now 17) had baby rice as their first 'solid' food. I was very careful to follow the weaning guidelines, slowly introducing different foods and textures.

For my youngest (13) I followed baby led weaning. His first food was french beans stolen from my plate.

Not saying it's linked at all but he is a much more adventurous eater than his sibling.

OhNoWhatYouGonnaDo · 30/05/2022 19:10

We gave our youngest a tiny bit of caviar as her first food - we were all eating it at a family celebration and didn't want to leave her out. Peak Mumsnet, I know!

But to answer your question properly - baby porridge, various pureed fruits and vegetables, bits of finger food like toast and broccoli...

actiongirl1978 · 30/05/2022 19:15

Baby rice, apatamil and banana at 17 weeks and 1 day for both children.

Friend and I counted down the days till we could wean them.

In the days when 17 weeks was the recommended age.

bakewellbride · 30/05/2022 19:18

Banana mashed up with a bit of breastmilk.

honeybushbunch · 30/05/2022 19:19

Steamed mashed pear. DD was unenthusiastic, even though she was 6m and all the signs were there that she was ready to wean, and I worried she would never eat.

Turned out that she’s just never liked pear! Later when she could talk she told us she had just always hated the taste!

Second and third tries (soft steamed carrots and banana) were met with a lot more enthusiasm!

Eightieschildren · 30/05/2022 19:20

Steak pudding chips, peas and gravy.

Chocoqueen · 30/05/2022 19:23

Broccoli. It did not go down well 😆, loved cauliflower the next day though and now eats almost anything I put in front of her at 9 months old (fairly sure this will change)

mummymummymummummum · 30/05/2022 19:23

BBQ'd lamb steak 😁 followed by other BBQ treats and salads.
