Any doctors in the house? Weird symptoms

Ok I’m not normally one for hypochondria BUT this is framing me out.

I woke up early last week with what seemed to be a gnat bite on my forehead. It seemed to get a bit better but this weekend has flared up and my forehead is quite swollen 😳 now I have an enlarged lump just in front of my ear (I think lymph node) and went to take my makeup off for bed and think I have a swelling just above my cheek bone (same side as other weird lump by ear ) . The weird thing is it’s the right to middle part of my brow that’s affected but my left ear and face. Ear / jaw quite sore when opening to brush teeth….

what's going on? Should I just wait for it to go away???

can anyone shed any light?

Have you tried anti histamine?

manandbeast · 30/05/2022 00:28

Yes - I took one this morning - didn’t seem to make much difference!!

Do you think it’s probably ok to wait till the morning?

Surely just call your GP in the morning?

It's hard to give advice over the Internet without seeing you but it just sounds like an infected gnat bite? Lymphatic drainage of this region is to I front of the ear, but no one on Mn has assessed you

manandbeast · 30/05/2022 00:38

Yes!! You are quite right about GP. Except I cannot get through and never on a Monday. Will try tho.

just odd - and freaking me out with its oddness!!

I’m not being funny, but aren’t these symptoms of monkey pox?

milkyaqua · 30/05/2022 01:01

It could be infected. I needed antibiotics after an insect bite on my face. The swelling was weird/scary... Cellulitis. Best to see a GP.

MmeMeursault · 30/05/2022 01:02

Probably Covid.

SeaToSki · 30/05/2022 01:06

Do you have a temp and or any general body aches
is the swollen forehead area hot to the touch
is it redder than the rest of your face

basically do you have signs that it is infected and spreading? If yes you need to be seen soon, if not then try more antihistamine (piriton before bed and Claritin in the morning ) and see if that helps

ElenaSt · 30/05/2022 01:08

Could it be one of those false widow spider bites?

Sorry if that is alarming.

manandbeast · 30/05/2022 08:42

Thankyou all!!

not monkey pox - as that looks more like puss filled spots from what I can see but I have just got lumps!!

If you can't get a doctor's appointment (it sounds infuriating), perhaps it's worth speaking with a pharmacist? I'll be surprised if any doctors are willing to diagnose you over MN.

Good luck!

Mabelface · 30/05/2022 09:44

If you can't get a gp appointment, call 111 and have a chat. You might be able to get an appointment at a walk in or similar, but I would want that looked at in case you have an infection.

stayathomegardener · 30/05/2022 12:48

No idea what's going on for you but having had to turn into an alternative health physician for my family over the last few years I would look into Dr Myhill re use of salt pipe and Lugols iodine, there's a technique for blowing it back through your ears that would work well to remove any potential infection.

Sounds like an insect bite that’s become infected.
Warm water, dissolve some salt in it if you want. Soak clean flannel or cotton wool pads, press gently onto the spot. Make the water as warm as you can bear ( do not burn your skin!) Repeat. Repeat. Will draw out pus.
Very old fashioned but works —- put a blob of Germolene on the spot, cover with a plaster. Germolene will draw the pus out.
