Where would we be now if Boris had died of covid?

I'm not wishing the guy dead, but there have been some clear turning points in politics over the past few decades that make me wonder "what if?" Like John Smith's death or David Miliband losing the labour leadership contest to Ed Miliband. I'm not sure if this is another one of those or the answer is "much the same".

Probably the same. I'm sure there are plenty more lying sack of shit politicians to replace Boris should something happen to him. Until the Tories get voted out nothing will change.

Well he wouldn't have been partying, that's for certain!

I think covid and lockdowns would have been perceived quite differently. Not sure where that would have left us now though. I think there's a decent chance that Matt Hancock would have won a leadership contest on the back of it.

Having said that, I don't believe BJ had that close a call with covid anyway.

SausageinaBun · 29/05/2022 16:54

No, I agree, he wasn't anywhere near as sick as most of those hospitalized with covid.

No idea, but Boris claimed recently he'd been 'fighting for his life in ICU'. Another lie. He was taken to ICU as a precaution and given oxygen to help his breathing. Hardly fighting for your life. Didn't stop him having parties and behaving like a young teenager, to the extent his young son's swing was destroyed. Utter knob. The worst part is if he's snuffed it, somebody equally corrupt and morally bankrupt would have filled his clown shoes.

Personally I would be amazed as I doubt the proven liar Boris Johnson ever had it.

I was asked recently who I would trust to confirm Boris did have Covid, and the truth of it is there isn't anyone.

Although if he had died of it, cosmic justice would have been satisfied. As things stand we can only hope he has some sort of unique accident with a lyre. Maybe getting caught in the strings.

I am sad to say that we would be in a better place. Several thousand fewer people would have died of Covid, in part I expect because those who did not follow restrictions at various times would have been much more likely to have done so, because a prominent 50 something had died.

What a ghoulish thought!

Rachelw84 · 29/05/2022 19:58

In a slightly better place (as the Tories would still be in charge)

Many more people died because Boris Johnson wouldn’t do things to protect people because he was unable to stand up to the ERG - he was scared they’d revolt against him

As @Squiff70 said, Johnson was never as ill as he made out, his situation was amplified to gain sympathy

If anyone is in any doubt as to how badly he handled things then see the list below

Well I doubt the entire ministerial code would have been rewritten as it has been.

I don't think he was anywhere near death or even very ill anyway.

I often think the same thing, I never wish him dead but BJ scares me (he’s willing to do anything to save his own skin) and I wish he was out of government.

This.

He's rewriting everything for his own gain.

And people are sitting back and watching him and repeating "but corbyn".
