Has anyone ever made a claim for key/lock replacement on the rac key care?

I've lost the key to my car! But I'm apprehensive of claiming as the lock was sticking abit anyway and I don't want them to insinuate I'm being fraudulent! Would they even know the lock was on its way out? What do they do when they change the lock

Don't know about changing the lock but when I lost my car key the RAC just replaced it and I had to have it coded at Gates Ford for it to work. 3 days later the lost key arrived in the post from them (it had their key care tag on it) - I'd dropped it in a field apparently.
If they're going to change your lock then I'd have thought they'd have no way of knowing it was sticking or care either way.
