I don’t know where to go, holiday for me, husband and 18 month old. I had wanted to do Greece or Cyprus but it will be scorching.

Stay in the UK? Channel islands?

What do you want from a holiday?

BundtCake · 29/05/2022 08:48

Hmm I guess the thing with the UK is that it could piss down with rain every single day… holiday, just want to relax, somewhere with nice green spaces for little one to run around, good food and wine! We did Lisbon a while ago and that was perfect.

We enjoyed Northern Spain, Bilbao and St Sebastian. Usually stay in UK for summer holidays though.
Don't go to Turkey. I went in June thinking it might be pleasant. We literally melted.

Anywhere Northern Europe? Some lovely scenic places in Switzerland, Norway, that sort of thing.

Some of the beaches along the French south coast are nice and don’t get too hot.

Beaches in Denmark or the Netherlands? Or Brittany in France?

BundtCake · 30/05/2022 15:38

Thank you. To be honest all this flight chaos at the moment is making me want to avoid flying!

Drive to a campsite or gite in Northern / mid France then, we like the Loire valley.

The south of France is hot!

Catch a ferry to Brittany or drive slightly further south down the west coast? We've had brilliant euro camp type holidays in France with little ones, staying in caravan parks. Loads for them to do plus lively countryside and amazing food/wine. I recommend the Isle de Re off the coast of La Rochelle.

Or head to Germany? Or a centre parcs in Denmark? All nice and warm without being too hot!

Brittany, The Loire. Or find a chalet/ family friendly hotel in the Alps. Lovely green spaces, lakes for swimming, delicious food, temperate but sunny. I love the mountains around Lake Geneva ( two easy days driving) and Konigsee in Bavaria ( although it can get quite hot). We have had many great Alpine holidays with little ones.

Austria.
also, having been a holiday rep (back in the day!!), I really noticed a big difference when I spent two summers in the Algarve compared to Greece and Cyprus. The Atlantic coast was nowhere near as oppressive as the Med.
