What age kid drew this

I'm interested to know if this is normal for her age. Just for fun, but she does want to be an artist when she grows up. I thought her older sister had drawn it so that's what made me ask.

I think that’s excellent for 5!

Hadtocomment · 27/05/2022 16:11

I cross-posted OP. I just waffled on about how it didn't matter what age she was. But as you've now revealed it - I think it is tremendously fluid for that age. I hope you continue to encourage her.

muddyford · 27/05/2022 16:12

I would say five or six. A small relation did me a wonderful picture of a farm at that age.

Veol · 27/05/2022 16:13

5ish. The writing gives it away a bit.

CottonSock · 27/05/2022 16:13

@Hadtocomment that's lovely, thank you for taking the time for the detailed reply. My kids are immersed in screens so often that they forget about the art supplies we have.

We are lucky to live somewhere with lots of creativity and kids classes. Some of them I'm keeping in mind for when she's a bit older.

She's definitely got some talent. The eyes and faces are very neat.

Goatinthegarden · 27/05/2022 16:21

Primary teacher here, I’d be impressed if I was handed this by a five year old. She’s taken great care, laid it out nicely and included lots of detail.

ErinAoife · 27/05/2022 16:23

Really depend one of the kids. My brother has twin, one of them is drawing like the drawing you are showing at 3, the other only stick man/woman

Veryverycalmnow · 27/05/2022 16:28

I reckon age 6- 7.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 27/05/2022 16:41

I think that's very good for 5

amylou8 · 27/05/2022 16:52

I think that's pretty good for 5, there's a lot of detail. But then I can just about manage a stickman so I'm hardly an art critic.

I was an Art teacher for 26 years. I think that’s pretty good for a 5 year old. It’s the eyes and lips on the bottom ones which make me think this. It’s small things that show ability.

l saw a 4 year old draw a frog once, and she put the eyes on top of the head. I thought that was pretty good.

wellhelloitsme · 27/05/2022 17:15

Very good for a five year old OP, lovely picture Smile

Surprised nobody came on and said "18 months or so, my child has released some basic childrens books now they are four" etc!

PrinnyPree · 27/05/2022 17:15

I think it's really good for a 5 year old OP! I say this as a professional illustrator. Xx

AMindNeedsBooks · 27/05/2022 18:29

I was going to say 5 but I also think it's very good for that age, not all 5 years old's can draw as well as that.

PonyoLovesSouske · 27/05/2022 18:31

I think it's very good for 5. Definitely encourage her to carry on drawing if she enjoys it.

Concestor · 27/05/2022 18:39

Similar to the sort of thing my daughter produced at age 5 - she's now 13 and a phenomenal artist. So I think this is a sign of a natural talent OP, it's very good for that age.

Holly60 · 27/05/2022 18:44

I'd say that's brilliant for 5. Well done her

ShowOfHands · 27/05/2022 18:45

DD drew in a similar way at 4/5 and has ended up being quite a good artist. I can show you how she was drawing at 10/11 if you like? I was very surprised by the speed of progression. She's doing an art GCSE now and it's lovely to look back at the progress over the years. Hang on to these early pictures.

CottonSock · 27/05/2022 19:05

@ShowOfHands yes please do share. Spread the art positivity here on this thread.

These are just colouring pencils and a decent sketch pad.

I've found that art has provided a real sanctuary for her as she's got older. I hope your DD continues to love drawing as much as she does now. Like I said, the picture you posted reminded me so much of dd's drawing at the same age. She's got a talent for detail.
