Best tips for beating depression/anxiety with out medication

Hello!

I was hoping you lovely MNetters would have some tips and suggestions that have actually worked for you in beating mild depression/anxiety. I don't want medication of the GP as I hate the feeling of them. I am going to quit alcohol as that leaves me feeling shocking for around a week after - not that I drink that often anyway ( about once very three weeks)

At the moment I feel completely disconnected from my body and my anxiety is pretty bad so any grounding, tips or any advice on how to push past this and start enjoying life again would be lovely.

Thank you

Weight training. It makes you really strong (but not bulky - you can get very lean from it) and that in itself is incredibly empowering.

Meditation and affirmations that can replace the anxiety-loop message in your brain with more helpful words like: just breathe, I can handle this, and that also challenges the anxiety with facts like: there's no evidence that will happen, I can't see into the future. I can only handle how things are right now.

Have you had a basic health check lately? Sometimes issues like fatigue can be exacerbated by low vitamins or iron.

Might sound silly but A Gratitude journal every day list 3 things you are grateful for - or more, the more the better really. Helped me.

Animals. Do u have a dog? Exercise. Drinking enough water.

this sounds odd- but talking to yourself. Internally. Pretend you are your own friend. Tell yourself you are here to listen. Tell yourself you want to know what is going on/making you anxious. And then promising to help.
