How do you back up photos and files?

My iPhone's storage is full. It's mainly photos. Every year or so I go through the painful process of downloading them to my laptop and then copying them to an external USB drive as a back up. It just takes ages and especially now as the drive has gotten bigger over the years (and obviously will continue to grow). Same process when, on the nowadays rare occasion, I use a camera. There has got to be a better way - how do you back up photos and files?

Why not have them automatically uploading to Google Photo?

Thanks - I had been thinking about a cloud solution (although wasn't aware of google photo!!) but it's the size limit I am a bit worried about - am at 1,5TB for let's say the last 12 years' worth of photos and most cloud solutions seem to have a limit on data storage (or it's becoming a costly affair)

I pay for Dropbox which gives me plenty of storage. There are cheaper options but I use it a lot for work and find it very user-friendly.

My pics are automatically uploaded.

Do you pay for Amazon prime? There is cloud photo storage included.
Personally our photos are back up on hard drive and cloud storage, but that’s because dh is a photographer and we double back up clients photos.

I back up to an external drive regularly and it doesn’t take long despite having a massive amount of photos - all the photos I’ve ever taken digitally. I use a seagate drive. The first time I did it I did it in a way that took forever but once I was shown the quickest way to do it (copying and pasting folders onto the drive) it now takes a few minutes at most.

I use my laptop, a hard drive and a huge capacity USB stick. I do mine every few weeks as I like to edit and label my photos. It is something I enjoy doing so I don't find it a chore.

I just have them saved to the cloud.
