Surprised that some think Harry is in the closet. He is so young and groovy and woke and progressive and all that, surely he’d just be openly gay?

Someone who is not Harry Styles tells a magazine what he thinks Harry Styles thinks. Harry is an actor. Did you see him in Dunkirk? Do you think he's a xenophobic racist as well as a closeted gay man?

He is clearly either bi or pansexual.

From things he’s said about not wanting to label himself, and he has also spoken a lot recently about a “modesty clause” in his 1D contract which meant he could not do anything that may affect the image of the band as wholesome, clean cut boys. There was a lot of talk several years ago about him being in a secret relationship with a famous male radio DJ, which was probably true, but as he was in 1D at the time it would have had to have remained hidden. The big record labels are notoriously homophobic, especially when it comes to boybands. Several boy bands have had members come out many years later, and talk about how they were forced to stay in the closet.

So yes, Harry probably does know what it’s like to be closeted. But it’s very reductive and ignorant to say that means he’s gay. He is currently in a relationship with a woman and has been before. Regardless of what his sexuality is, he clearly isn’t gay but that doesn’t mean he has no experience of being closeted.

He seems ok, and he's had some decent poppy catchy songs. But I don't think he'll be headlining Glastonbury in the legend slot in years to come.
