Husband poured boiling water into the water filter

We were having some work done in the house today which meant the water would be turned off for a bit. H asked shall I boil the kettle and fill the water filter jug? I said yes, please. We do need drinking water for the day.

I came into the kitchen 5 mins later and the water filter is steaming, he boiled the kettle and poured that hot water into the jug .

When I questioned he said I agreed that he should boil the kettle and fill the jug...gosh, I can't get over it, who does that? He said that's how he thought we filter the water. Do I need to worry about this? I don't think this is normal. He is almost 58 yo.

Fuck sake. What a plonker. On its own nothing to worry about. If he's leaving the radio in the fridge and serving ice cream in a colander maybe start worrying.
What's he normally like?
You probably need a new filter cartridge.

How long have you had the filter jug?

@heldinadream I changed the filter cartridge straight away. He does do odd things sometimes and I kind of accepted that, but this really worried me.

When you pointed it out did he understand? Had he had an absent minded moment? Has he never filled the water filter before?
What does HE say about it?

Drunkennoodles · 26/05/2022 17:28

@BlanketsBanned I asked him to boil the kettle and fill the water jug, yes, just expected some common sense.

@heldinadream I do the water filter most of the time, he just drinks from the tap. But I'm knoe he has done before and even if he hasn't surely you'd understand you don't pour hot boiling water into the water filter jug? What's the point of it?

He said that's what he thought we are supposed to do..🙄

Everyone does daft shit like this ocassionally surely? I made a cup of tea without boiling the water the other day, I hope my husbands not overly worried about me now.
