How can I find extra money like this?

Due to personal circumstances I really need some extra money. I work full time so I have no ability to work extra as it’s often late into evenings and sometimes weekends.

I have a few nice things, make up etc, can these be sold? I don’t know what else to do. I’ve cancelled some outgoings but it’s only saving about 20 a month and everything else is going up.

You’re probably better off over on MSE forum and sharing your budget.
If you fill this in - www.stoozing.com/soa.php everyone can give you some ideas on what you’re overpaying and where to save money.
Can you share what you need the extra money for at the moment?

Try Vinted, no fees for sellers. Can you rent a room out, or do you have a garage?

Try selling any spare items on Facebook marketplace if u don't like Vinted.

I have some silver cutlery and goblets I am going to take to a local auctioneers. Do you have anything like that eg old ornaments stored away you do not use in the attic for example? I may do this either this year or next spring as they are only gathering dust.

Do you have any credit card bills etc you can move to a balance transfer with a lower interest rate?

dontgobaconmyheart · 05/07/2022 16:58

Almost anything can be sold, but I would look into other options.

Are you talking about needing a small lump sum quickly or needing to boost your monthly incoming salary consistently?

switching any debt to % interest cards is a good option, sell anything you don't need that might hold value, shop around to see if you can get a better deal on things like phone tariff, broadband, cancel tv streaming, switch to a cheaper food shop and meal prep/plan to save money there.

Look to switch your current account to a bank that offers a cash bonus.

Moneysavingexpert is probably the best place to look for more detailed advice.

OP, if it sounds too good to be true it will likely be exactly that: too good to be true.

Secret shopper?

Now that sounds interesting! But surely it can't be that easy to get a foot through the door?
