What could I have been allergic to?

Now this was over 10 years ago but I’ve just suddenly remembered it

I used to enjoy doing those face masks where you peeled them off after they dried.

I did one one day, and woke up the next morning to a reaction. My face was all swollen and red and my throat had swollen so I couldn’t speak. I could breathe fine, just couldn’t speak.

Didn’t think to go to a doctor, and I lived with my parents at the time and they never suggested it either so sort of resigned myself to never having a face mask again.

Im hesitant to try now in case I react again. What could it have been?

I have an allergy to elastaplast but all that does is leave me with a rash so I have to be careful with plasters.

I'm allergic to oats in that way - no problem eating them but I put my face in a bucket of oats once and came out with a massive allergic reaction.

Some ingredient in it? I know I can't leave them on for more than a couple of minutes as they itch like mad.

That’s the weird thing. It never itched.

I put it on as normal, waited, peeled and later on went to bed.

Only in the morning did I realise what had happened
