What's causing this damage on my violas? It's very distinctive.

Not the usual slug and snail decimation (though we have plenty of those fuckers as well!) and no sign of aphids anywhere near the violas! Could it be spider mites? I can't see any webs. Do I need to rip these plants out and get rid of them? All the flowers have been ruined, even the ones that are still buds have been chewed out Sad
