First full days work in 9 years, so nervous I want to pull out

Please reassure me ! I'm absolutely sick with nerves, It's in the classroom and I feel so rusty that I'm telling myself I'm going to be rubbish. I've had a part time job with children over the last 4 years but it hasn't been in a structured classroom environment. I'm supposed to be providing 1 to 1 support to one child and because I've never done it before I feel like I'm making a huge mistake

You'll be fine.

The school will want you to do well, so they will give you a decent induction. A few tips;

Take a pad and pen with you to write down anything important you need to remember.

Take lunch/snacks with you until you know what the set up is for lunch/breaks eg tea/coffee club.

My third day back from a long break for a baby here. First day I felt awful like my head was a clunky bit of cotton wool. Second day things were clicking more into place, and today was a good day!

Hang in there I promise it all comes back!

Don’t dismiss the four years of experience you have. The school will guide you and you can build your confidence as you go. You sound lovely. Have a great day!!
