Has anyone had paving/a patio done recently or know about them in general? Is this quote reasonable?

Have a 14sq m garden which us currently a wasteland.

Have been quoted £3k for cheapest Indian stone paving plus the levelling that would need doing first. No frills, just plain paving.

I have no idea whether or not this is reasonable. The company are very well reviewed and their communication has been excellent. Have been trying to get this job done by handymen/word of mouth recs for a few years and have had nothing but disasters (them not showing up, coming back, job too small, ghosting me etc).

This company can start straight away and I'm tempted to go for it just so I can get the job done finally.

Is it reasonable or a ripoff in your experience?

In Yorkshire for context.

We paid around £5k for a 9x4m patio including extensive levelling (mini retaining brick wall etc) and drains. With limestone paving, I think it is.

Sounds fair

I work in construction supplies and I'd say that's reasonable yes. Prices on everything have been soaring, paving, cement and aggregates to name a few, some products we're having trouble getting still.

Sounds reasonable. Levelling off in itself is quite a big job (even though it may look small!)

I'm also South Yorks and had a 16sm patio done about 18 months ago for £1500, but there was minimal levelling and I already had the edging bricks.

He was also a one man (plus apprentice) band, meaning little in the way of overheads. He was a bit flaky about when he could come but he did keep returning until the job was finished and it is a good job.

Found him through 'My builder' or Trusted Trader' can't remember which

We've just had ours done - 30square meters with porcelain paving including levelling off for £3k. East Mids.
