Fucidic cream - does it contain a steroid?

Are there any GPs or pharmacists who could advise whether this fucidic acid cream contains a steroid?

I was prescribed it for a skin blemish, by a trainee GP who was instructed (by a GP with dermatology experience) to prescribe ‘fucidic acid with steroid’.

However, when he left, the trainee then admitted she wasn’t sure what to prescribe and google seems to say this is antibiotic cream only.

I don’t know whether to say something when I go back on Tuesday.

No - they should have prescribed you Fucidin-H which is fucidin and hydrocortisone mixed.

Caveat - not a Dr, used to work as a Dispenser!

I think you want Fucidin H rather than just Fucidin, the H refers to Hydrocortisone cream so if you have some of that at home you could mix the two together or use them both. I am not a Doctor but have had eczema which has been infected, and other skin issues so have a little bit of knowledge about it. You will probably be better waiting for someone more knowledgeable though!

@CornishPorsche

thanks, that’s the conclusion that I came to, Iwas wondering whether to question with pharmacist before Tuesday but didn’t want to appear stupid!
