What happens if you go to A&E when you're suicidal?

Ime they don't keep you in.

You're assessed by a psychiatrist then sent home to wait for a phone call the next day if they deem you suicidal enough after their morning meeting.

I took a suicidal person to A&E and they didn't get the next day phone call. They were repeatedly asked if they were on drugs because they were underweight and told to eat something and go to sleep until they might get a phone call the next day.

They handed out a lot of leaflets for counselling.
