For me it's a few things:
-Learning what past trauma is and how it plays out in relationships
-Learn to say no to things and people and not feel bad about it
-Realising no one really notices or cares what I do or look like; felt liberated to not always wear lots of makeup, dress in a new outfit or have my roots done, or eat out alone, or do anything alone.
-Not watching much current tv and picking up a book instead
-Listening to James O' Brien on LBC ( I know he's not everyone's cup of tea- but I learned alot)
-Waking up v early to have some me time. This was hard as I was a night owl for many years.
-Declutter and only buy when I need something. To be honest this started as I had to downsize to an empty flat after my divorce and am on not much money but it has helped with not worrying about possessions and all the cleaning involved.
-Divorce my ex husband- biggest impact haha

What improved yours?

Moving overseas, no stress at all, especially from traffic.

I would love to know where you moved to!

Treacletoots · 22/05/2022 17:51

Divorcing my ex husband. Getting a dog. Joining a nice gym, going vegetarian.

wallpoppy · 22/05/2022 17:53

HRT and becoming a freelance consultant.

Sandandgrass · 22/05/2022 17:56

Completing Couch to 5k,never actually made it to 5k,(no sense of failure)!but completed 0 (struggling) ....to 30 mins and now actually get quite tetchy if i dont get out into the fresh air for a jog! Did not diet but lost a stone by default!

Also sometimes be a human 'being' not a human 'doing' by just relaxing and clearing my head. Plenty more habits but these two have made an enormous difference to my wellbeing.

BreakorMake · 22/05/2022 18:02

Stopped watching/listening to the news. I know what is going on via headline info and if I want more I can get it. It is so liberating not listening to talking heads and the same shit different day.

Took early retirement early 50s via a once in a lifetime package. Could have done consultancy, but have just been a lazy contented woman since, can do as little or as much as I please.

Stopped alcohol when I retired. Best thing ever, not a problem with it but I knew I could get into the habit when not working any more. Clear head and lots of energy ever since.

Ditched a lot of so called "friends" who I realise now were sucking the life out of me. Concentrate on my family, siblings and nieces and nephews. So nice and they are never bitchy or judgmental. Feel very lucky we still connect and get on so well.

I count my blessings every day too. I have health issues, but there are so many others out there in a much worse position than me, so I am thankful for what I've got.

Moving to my favorite part of town. It took my commute down to 10 minutes, from 45 - 60 minutes, sometimes even longer, which improved my attitude to going to work.

LilythePunk · 22/05/2022 18:03

Giving up watching the news. Stopping trying to make some family relationships work when clearly nothing was ever going to change .

LilythePunk · 22/05/2022 18:04

Also made a decision to minimise drama in my life and stop trying to help people all the time when they didn’t value me.

ValBiro · 22/05/2022 18:05

Thank you @HangingOver! It's bloody brilliant isn't it? Congrats on your upcoming anniversary too. Are you treating yourself to anything? I have been thinking of a chunky gold necklace but am also toying with the idea of a tattoo!

Llamasally · 22/05/2022 18:08

Antidepressants
outsourcing things I don’t want to do
putting in boundaries at work
pilates 121 instruction every week

declutteringmymind · 22/05/2022 18:09

Turning off most notifications on my phone.

Restricting social media to my iPad only.

Only giving my advice to people who deserve it.

Stoping drinking. Going alcohol free was such a game changer for me.

Healthier. Brighter. Better sleep. No mood swings.

I was such a wine o clock Prosecco cliche mum. So embarrassing.

What do you drink now?

DinosaursEatMan · 22/05/2022 18:15

My iPhone
Restarting swimming
Admitting how stressed and unhappy I am because of work, and taking the first steps towards a potential career change

Floydthebarber · 22/05/2022 18:15

Antidepressants. Life changing for me in so many ways. I'm hoping to keep up my confidence, self esteem and just happiness now I have stopped them.

CaliforniaDrumming · 22/05/2022 18:23

Not RTFT but walking a minimum of 8 k daily for me ( more on weekends). Not for weight loss- it barely helps- but just as a way of clearing my head.

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 22/05/2022 18:25

Learning to swim. Life changing

maddy68 · 22/05/2022 18:29

Hiding the feminism threads on here 😂

Imissmoominmama · 22/05/2022 18:34

A small dog.

Walking, up hill, down dale, along the coast. Just walking.

Giving up my job, then choosing to work when and where I want to. Three different roles, and loads of time off for walking and the small dog ☺️.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 22/05/2022 18:35

I would like to give up shift work as I'm so sick of being tired all the time and having no sleep pattern. That will be my biggest thing when I can do it.

Until then bean to cup coffee machine.

Yorkshire1997 · 22/05/2022 18:35

I would say

Antidepressants
Eating less processed foods and drinking more water
Writing in a journal
Thinking of one thing I am grateful for each day

Roselilly36 · 22/05/2022 18:38

Stopped watching the news.

RedPlumbob · 22/05/2022 18:39

Being diagnosed with ADHD a few years ago; medication and lots of research on coping strategies later, my life is transformed.

Being a single mother. So. Much. Nicer.

Multiple, excellent vibrators.

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 22/05/2022 18:41

Testosterone and sex therapy.
