Dd is off for the next two weeks but I feel like everyone else in the country doesn't break up until next Friday!

Has anyone else got the next two weeks off?

Next week and only for one week here.

charliewww · 20/05/2022 23:22

Strange, even the other two local schools are still in next week. We've never had two weeks in May before...

RC schools in our area yes.

Dorset ...we break up next Friday for a week

Iwantcollarbones · 21/05/2022 00:02

I hope not or come Monday midday-ish I’m going to have two pissed off boys arriving home telling me about how I’ve ‘done it again’.

I have three dc who went to different schools with different term times so this happens far more regularly then most I assume.

Primary schools in our area used to have 2 weeks at the end of May and then only 5 weeks' summer holidays. They changed it around 15 ish years ago to match the secondaries. Now we break up next Friday and I can't wait

My friend’s school has 2 weeks in May and my daughter’s school has 1.5 weeks this year. I only have 1 week at my school. They both only have 1 week in October but I get two. It all evens out eventually.

I was always jealous of my friend’s two weeks in May as the weather is nicer than October but we went abroad last October which was lovely and really broke up the long term.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 21/05/2022 05:28

I would give anything for my school to be done for two weeks. We have just had Ofsted and we’re all exhausted. The thought of teaching another week fills me with dread.

Stockport primaries have always had two weeks. Families love it as holidays cheaper

charliewww · 21/05/2022 09:15

Yes we've booked Mon-Fri in the lakes and it was £400 cheaper than the following week. Now I know why!!

I'm assuming primary as GSCEs and A levels are scheduled for this week in secondary. No national exams (England) the following week as it is half term.

theMedicinalPorpoise · 21/05/2022 20:57

No, but there's only 6 weeks of term left here (Scotland).

KarrotKake · 21/05/2022 21:56

Secondary schools are unlikely to be off, as there are GCSE's, and I'd assume ALevels, are on next week.
