Help me please with this job application - bit of tecchie question

Posted elsewhere on MN but got no response:

It's got grey boxes which say, "Double click to enter surname"
Once I double click a new box/ form appears called Text Field Form Options. It has a 'default text' field for writing the text which will then appear in the form.
This is the way whole application is, including the personal statement bit.
Should I fill in the field box or just double click and delete the grey shaded part on the form and then write my info onto the form?

If the “default text” field pulls what you type through onto the form, I would do it in there I think.

Yes it does @SneezesHaveStarted. I have started to do that. Its flipping well annoying and no idea why it's like that as I can't enter dates in properly

It sounds pooly designed, probabaly ment to feed your inputs into a database?

As for the dates is it an american format mm/dd/yyyy?

@SolasAnla It asks for dates attended e.g for school and you can only enter in one date. So only the start date but I have just put my end date in the year I got my GCSEs (the date qualification was awarded column).
Also, it's in dd/mm/ yyyyy format but I don't know the exact date I started or ended school or university.

It depends on the wording.
If you have any certificates or awards I would go with the end date or match the award date. I had something similar and HR came back saying my dated did not match the cert date.
But if you are not sure and go with start dates go into a calender roll back the years and pick the first Monday of the month you started in each school as your start date.
