How do you declutter things you absolutely adore but have no use for whatsoever?

I have a bubble shaped dog bed. It looks like a wicker version of a doggy space-pod. Super cute. I love love love it. But our dog died. Not that he ever slept in it anyway. I know if I declutter it, I'll never find one like it again, it's quite unique. But I have nowhere out-of-the-way to store it and it just sits in the way in the kitchen. How would you treat something like this?

I don't know. I have a beautiful vase - that doesn't hold water. Not that I get many flowers, but still ..

DelurkingAJ · 19/05/2022 19:52

I would try to repurpose it, maybe?

BertieBotts · 19/05/2022 19:54

Could you repurpose it?

Are you likely to get another dog, would that dog definitely be the right size to use it?

Give it to a friend who has a dog? If they like it as much as you do!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 19/05/2022 19:56

Could it double up as a laundry basket?

LoveSpringDaffs · 19/05/2022 19:56

@Mangojuic I'm sorry to hear about your dog xx

What's wrong with it being where it is?

it has been there this long, do you need to 'hide it away'?

if you're not going to get another dog, you could always get a soft toy dog to lounge in it!!

thereisonlyoneofme · 19/05/2022 20:02

depends how big it is I suppose. Have you not got a loft?
Cant visualise what it looks like so hard to think of an alternative
use.

Dont know why Im replying as I am unable to declutter stuff I dont want, just in case I want it when its gone !

Mosaic123 · 19/05/2022 20:06

Could you give it to a friend so you can visit it?

picassobride · 19/05/2022 20:24

One should only have things that are either useful or adorable. You simply can't declutter.🤓

RockAndRollerskate · 19/05/2022 20:28

What about (after a good clean), a blanket store, or something similar?

Plantstrees · 19/05/2022 20:45

Not helpful but I would get one of those purring soft toy cats to put in it so at least it looks used. I am useless at decluttering!

SeaToSki · 19/05/2022 20:46

Take a photo of it and give it to a good friend who loves it and will use it

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 19/05/2022 20:54

If it makes you smile/feel happy/just plain love the item - why does it have to go? Keep for any of those reasons otherwise your life will be poorer due to regret. We work to live and part of that is having objects we love around us.
I like the option of using for t towel storage.

Definitely this!

I love that you'd buy ~more clutter~ a purring cat to make this item to look used 😄.
