'Celebrity' quiz/game show versions

Just pondering really, but when did celebrity versions of quiz/game shows start to become a thing? Only ones I can remember from the past were things like Blankety Blank, but now it feels like virtually everything has a celebrity version. Some new ones only feature known people, or partnered up with 'regular' folk somehow. How/when did this happen?

I can't think of any celebrity versions of normal quiz shows.
Maybe Mastermind and Pointless but there seem to be loads of panel shows around that seem to feature the same 'celebrities' over and over.

Tipping Point and The Chase (I love both!) often have a celebrity episode. I always think the questions are easier when the celebs are on. 😆

When you used to get Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire that was really boring. The questions were easier and there was no tension as it wouldn’t affect their life, with the money just going to charity. I can’t remember when that started. Sometimes it’s a job to figure out whether the contestants are celebrities or normal people as many are unrecognisable.

Often the only way I realise it's a "celebrity" episode is that the questions are weirdly easy and the contestants are being allowed to get away with wasting a lot of time playing up and mugging for the camera in a particularly irritating way. They always manage to pick people from things I haven't seen, so there's not even that aspect to hold my attention.

There's been celebrity versions of game shows for donkeys years. Bullseye, it's a knockout, weakest link, 15-1, countdown, family fortunes, generation game.. they all had celebrity episodes and that's just off the drop of my head. So it's not particularly a new thing.
