Anyone over 45 and still naturally thin?

What I mean is that you do not consciously track your food or exercise, or eat less in order to maintain your figure? If so, what does your typical day of diet/exercise look like for you?

im not one of these lucky types btw and have to really consciously think am I hungry before grabbing a bite to eat. In addition I have to force myself to exercise as I’m naturally sedentary, so I have a lot going against me as I also have a huge appetite.

I find the over 45 and naturally thin types are rare

I do a lot of exercise, btw - but not 'special' exercise. Just stuff that's part of the day (lots of walking and cycling), physical job. I feel horrendous if I don't do something quite active every day.

Oh and finally, I eat three decent meals a day and don't snack, ever. I don't like puddings/cake/biscuits/chocolate so don't eat them. I do like crisps, though, so do try not to buy them.

I'm like that. A giid long dog walk is enough. But if I don't get that I feel a bit crazy

I'm 52, 5'9 with a BMI of 22. Was very slim up when younger (to the point of people asking if I was ill!). I've always eaten what I fancy but was never forced to finish my plate so never stuff myself & often leave food.

Do try to have plenty of fruit & veg but also have regular takeaways. Todays diet was banana first thing, granola, fruit & yoghurt mid morning, slice of quiche for lunch, 4 squares of chocolate mid afternoon and 3/4 of a pizza for dinner (busy day & couldn't be bothered to cook). Relatively active (walking & yoga) and generally a fidget.

Ceridwenn · 18/05/2022 21:25

Wonder how much fidgeting helps? I have restless legs and am always moving, even if it's tapping a finger or hand. Drives me mad.

I’m 49 and am 8/10, probably thinner now than I was 10 years ago. Most of my friends of the same age look about the same size as they did when they were younger (similar size to me). I don’t watch what I eat but for general health reasons I try to not over do carbs and I find that if I try to have 12-15 hour period in the day when I don’t eat (including sleep) then I don’t have to give any thought to putting on weight.

tillyandmilly · 18/05/2022 21:33

Come on ! You can eat a standard whole bag of crisps? Rubbish!

puddingandsun · 18/05/2022 21:40

I'm early forties so not sure what to expect in a few years' time yet.

I've always been slim, except after pregnancies for a few months.

Never dieted or avoided certain foods. However, my mum was overweight and had health issues as consequences so may be that effected my eating habits on some level.

I walk but nothing else much and don't feel as fit as I'd like.

When I'm stressed I use the toilet a lot! I'm often stressed.

Late fifties, size 6-8 (although I'm sure I was a size 10 at the same weight in my twenties) and I haven't put on weight with age. I do quite a lot of sport and don't count calories or avoid/restrict particular foods. However, I don't drink much alcohol, don't have takeaways, and rarely eat out. I've been lucky with my health (no significant medical problems) and genetics (my dad has always been lean and has only just started to develop a bit of a paunch in his eighties). I have put on a bit of weight occasionally when I've been unable to exercise due to family or work demands, but only 5kg or so, not enough to need bigger clothes.

wotwududo · 18/05/2022 22:04

I eat healthily, exercise daily. I've put about a stone on this year. Mostly around my middle.

CharSiu · 18/05/2022 22:21

I was fine till I was post menopause at 52, now I make an effort to eat smaller portions because my waist thickened out, I am in the same size clothes but they are tight no I am nit buying an entire new wardrobe so I’m just being careful.
