Too many Ikea wardrobes Blush. Easy mistake to make, right?
We figured out what we needed to PAX the bedroom... then changed how we wanted the frames and forgot to delete the first configuration... thought it was a bit more expensive that I had mentally added but not enough to alert me.

I now have a downstairs wet room FULL of flat pack!
Guess we now need a trip there after all.... (had delivery cos of the bulk)
Dammit!

Are Ikea good about sorting refunds? Pretty sure I can spend it in there !!!

Get onto your local Facebook selling page and see if anyone wants it for free delivery? Most people can’t get to ikea and don’t want to pay shipping but may want the products

savoycabbage · 17/05/2022 22:08

Yes the good news is they are excellent at refunds. They give you 365 days to do it.

It's hard to fit a pax in a car though.

People are always returning them as they miscalculate the ceiling height and can't stand them up.

StillMedusa · 17/05/2022 22:12

Yeah I'm a bit worried about the height too... DH has calculated, but it doesn't leave much room (to put it mildly!) However there is a great video on assembling it upright with very little tolerance so I'm hoping his usual skills will win through!!

You need 8cm as far as I can remember. I can't imagine being able to build one upright. Shock That's some skill!

Charliebigpotatoes · 17/05/2022 22:16

If you call their customer service they are usually excellent. MIL bought the wrong item accidentally and customer service offered to arrange collection of it and refunded it very quickly

Bergmum · 17/05/2022 22:17

Ikea did a free pick up a few years ago when I had too many kitchen units ordered.

QueenofLouisiana · 17/05/2022 22:19

I sold an over-order for £5 less than I paid. It would have cost me more than that in fuel to return it, plus a 3 hour return journey. I stuck it on the village FB group.

S0upertrooper · 17/05/2022 22:24

I recently assembled the tallest PAX vertically. I thought it was easier than doing it on the floor and lifting it up.

I did the bulk of it myself and only got someone to help for 10 minutes.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 17/05/2022 22:34

Ikea are excellent at refunds. Ask me how I know Grin

Dbank · 17/05/2022 22:37

Did you order them online? If so under the distance selling laws you can return them, I believe within 14 days. This applies to anything you order online in the UK.

We built Pax in a room with only a couple of cm clearance on the ceiling. It was tricky, but perfectly do-able for anyone fairly competent at flatpack construction, with an accomplice able to stand up and keep the carcass perfectly upright while the top and back are attached.

What was challenging was discovering that the ceiling was far more crooked than we had realised, despite measuring it in several places. We had to carve away parts of the freshly-decorated ceiling to get the wardrobes all the way back to the wall. Fortunately, the wardrobes fit perfectly, and the abused parts of the ceiling are completely hidden behind them.

We built all 3 of ours upright. There is only a few cm clearance from the ceiling.

INeedNewShoes · 17/05/2022 22:46

Whereabouts are you OP and which configuration is it that you have going spare?

Just checking - If you live nextdoor to me and it's the 201cm height, with 3 or 4 doors and in white I might buy them off you...

Obviously only joking but I'm actually on the lookout for Pax on Facebook marketplace and I bet I'm not the only one!

SailingBuddy · 17/05/2022 22:58

Good news - you can just amend the order online, easy peasy.
It's on their website here and here

NothingIsWrong · 17/05/2022 23:00

I have just built Pax vertically with almost zero clearance on the tallest one and it was fine. A bit fiddly and you need two people but it was fine

Oh bollocks... I have accidentally ordered
Fraaahnces · 17/05/2022 23:04

IKEA are great with returns. You have to have the original boxes though. Give them a call and see what they can do re collecting them for a fee. Might be most practical solution.

PyongyangKipperbang · 17/05/2022 23:39

We built Pax vertically with about 4 inches clearance.

The issue was that I bought them on ebay, brand new and they were a bargain for two doubles and a single, but we couldnt fit the single one, planned to resell. DH knew this and I told FIL myself but as Iam a vagina owner FIL has never listened to me on principle, and DH would never argue with his father. FIL then got a right cob on when I came back and shouted through the jammed door pointed out that with the single in there too they now could not get out of the room, and that it was worth less as it was not longer BNWT so to speak. That perhaps when I said "DO NOT BUILD THE SINGLE" he should have listened instead of insisting they do that one first as it would be easier. He ended up paying me back what it would have sold for and using it one of his many spare rooms that no one ever uses.

Oh and he is now my ex FIL so no longer my problem!

SingingSands · 18/05/2022 00:07

PAX are great aren't they? Ours is 18 years old and still going strong.
