That is a shock. She was so talented at creating such relatable characters. A real talent. So sad.

Very sad. She lived near me and I'd often see her walking her dog. She always said hello. She was very smiley and spoke to everyone. I often saw her with her daughter, Gaynor Faye too. She must be devastated.

So sad. Loved her work.

I thought Band of Gold was

I would always tune in for a Kay Mellor drama. A key voice for women, Northerners and the working classes. She has left a great legacy.

I agree with this, so important a writer.

RIP Kay Mellor. I've loved everything she has written.

Oh no, this has really shocked me. I can't think of any other TV writers like her. She leaves a legacy of strong northern working-class female characters.

I was sad to read this too. Kay was a very talented lady, I loved her work. Her voice reminded me of my grandmother’s voice, same accent, and I always felt as if I had a connection to her even though I didn’t. Her daughter is equally talented. RIP Kay.
