Cough caused by back molars coming in? Is this a thing?

DS currently has a throat infection which I think he picked up because he’s been teething as his hands have been constantly in his mouth.
half the molars are through, the back end of each tooth is still to emerge but the gums are hugely swollen and he’s dribbling like nobody’s business.
he’s also developed a cough, it’s really wet sounding and worse when he’s lying down - I wondered if this is more likely the throat infection or teething?

im a bit concerned as he’s on day three of antibiotics so I expected symptoms to be getting better, not for more to emerge!

Sounds like spit is going down into his chest. Can you slightly raise the top of his cot/bed ?

That’s what I thought, we’ve already raised it but he tends to roll to one side so doesn’t end up sleeping propped up the whole time if that makes sense
