Looking to go abroad with the following criteria!

Fly out Friday morning and come back Sunday evening so just a weekend

Must be nice and sunny and hot, not too far on the plane and the resort be very close to the airport so no 3 hour transfers

Must have a great pool and food. Just want to get there, lie by the pool for a couple of days and then hop back on the plane

Can you think of anything they might fit the bill? Thanks

Somewhere around Val do Lobo or Quinta do Lago, Portugal. Beautiful and nice and close to the airport.

We’ve only done a villa in Val do Lobo but this looks rather nice. I just love the beach there and the restaurants are fab. Jump on the town shuttle bus to get into the main square. Love it!

Gibraltar - Rock hotel is lovely. 10 minute transfer from the airport. No need to change currency.

Portugal- we stayed in Villamoura last weekend. Some great hotels on the beach and the marina is a 2 minute walk with lots of bars/restaurants.

Enjoy wherever you decide to go😊✈☀

Seeing as you don't care where your going and what's there, get as cheap a flight as you can to one of the Costas. So lazy, you clearly have an internet connection and a search engine, use them.

Oh behave. Lots of people ask this sort of question. No need to be so rude.

Op I would choose somewhere that has a shorter flight time so you can maximise your time and without much change in time zone.

Majorca might fit the bill, Southern Spain and the Algarve. Or maybe Greece - Corfu or Thessaloniki. Though Corfu can be rainy and I had almost a week of rain there once

There's some great suggestions here and I'll check out each and every one of them

I should have put where I'm flying from but I really just wanted some quick getaway ideas as my mind was totally blank and I know the norm is for a week away and not just a couple of days. I now have a really good list and some of these links are great

But i have @midsomermurderess to keep me in line and tell me off for daring to post on an anonymous forum that literally everybody could choose to ignore. Priceless. At least it's given me a good laugh 😂

Palma- city centre- one of the Melia hotels with a pool. 20-25 euro taxi from airport

Melia Palma Marina is nice bit others are cheaper.

Book restaurants- loads within walking distance at all price ranges.

BonnesVacances · 17/05/2022 13:36

Definitely Malaga and then find a hotel with a pool close by. It's an amazing city and very underrated imo.

HardRockOwl · 17/05/2022 13:40

Looking at Malaga and palma now. They sound ideal

Split in Croatia. Gorgeous place and a good mix of city and beach vibes.

GoBackToPartyCity · 17/05/2022 13:49

The Le Meridien Lav might fit your bill!

Chewbecca · 17/05/2022 13:52

Most of the med fits this criteria.

Just checking, you do mean Jun-Sep?

Southern Spain (fly to Alicante or Malaga), Portugal south of France (Nice etc.) or Italy. Don't forget all the med islands too - we especially like Corsica but also Sardinia & Majorca.

HardRockOwl · 17/05/2022 14:00

@Chewbecca ideally 10-12 June so 2 nights, flying from Luton or Bristol or Heathrow I think.

Needs to be hot with a pool and a shortish flight with a short transfer time to hotel from airport.

Gibraltar hotels only a mile from airport but husband not sure about Gibraltar for some reason

From Malaga airport you can get a local train to the city center or to a few touristy towns nearby so no need for car hire. Be there in 20 mins. Torremolinos, benalmadena or fuengirola all nice

JorisBonson · 17/05/2022 14:08

We stayed at the Melia Salinas in Lanzarote - 15 minutes from the airport and amazing all inclusive. It's adults only tho, not sure if you're travelling with children.

Chewbecca · 17/05/2022 14:19

I'd also look at flight times, for such a short trip, you want to be able to depart in the morning and return in the evening to maximize time away.
Bristol to Barcelona seems to fit the bill. Unfortunately Ryanair but great flight times.

Ryanair
Total cost £261.
Outbound flight with Ryanair.
Departing from Bristol at 10:35, arriving in Barcelona at 13:35.
Direct flight taking 2 hours.
Inbound flight with Ryanair.
Departing from Barcelona at 19:10, arriving in Bristol at 20:20.
Direct flight taking 2 hours 10 minutes.

If I were you, I would find perfect flights first, then look at hotels second.

I stand by it, too lazy to look up the most basic holiday online. Hence your waspish reply, but this site is full of people pleasers, craving a pat on the head.

If flying from London, what about Mallorca? City airport is a breeze!
