Which mattress for Hemnes day bed??

We've got the IKEA Hemnes day bed in DS's room with the Malfors mattress. DS is happy with it, but on the few occasions that I have to use it, I always get up with a backache 😒
This bed is also used by guests sometimes, so they're probably not having a good night's sleep either.

Since the Hemnes daybed is smaller than a usual single, I'm stuck with IKEA mattresses! IKEA doesn't seem to do the Malfors anymore, but instead has these 2 in a 80x200 size:

Vannareid which is a pocket sprung mattress for £129

Asvang which is a foam mattress for £85

Both is these are meant to be firm and 12cms thick. Shall I assume that the more expensive mattress will be better? Does anyone have any of the above?

Would it help to add a mattress topper on it? I can't seem to find any mattress toppers which are 80x200, so that's going to be tricky.

TIA!!

I would definitely go with the pocket-sprung mattress for the day bed, having used the same model for at least 10 years in our home.

Thanks @LaingsAcidTab
I'm going to try and go to IKEA to try it out too

Don't ikea do mattress toppers that size?

Definitely go for the pocket sprung one - foam mattresses are awful!

@Whatalovelydaffodil they do a topper that would fit the double bed... So I won't be able to have it on when it's being used as a single. I'll need to put it on every time it's opened up. Which isn't too bad I guess. I'm looking for the easy lazy option 😊

Oh that is a bit strange. We've got 200x80 toppers for ours, but they were bought about 12 years ago.

I always wonder why they don't sell a decent mattress for people who like the bed but don't want to open it out. Are they supposed to buy two of the thin ones and stack them?
