18th birthday gift ideas

My sons birthday is looming and I'd like to get him something really lovely to mark the occasion.

At the moment I'm in a blind panic and can't think clearly- I don't want to ask him - please can I ask you all for some ideas?

My son likes jewellery and we bought him a signet ring.

That's sounds lovely - where did you buy it from

Cuff links? Georg Jensen or alessi bottle opener? Good fountain pen ( but only if this is something he would use/like.) a good rucksack for overnight bag
Possibly tech - eg mobile, good speakers, headphones etc but the problem with these is that they date relatively quickly
A folio edition of a favourite book or one he'd enjoy (eg hitch hikers guide to galaxy, lord of the rings). Again would only do this if this was likely to be his "thing"
Pair of docs
Wallet? But my 17 year old pays for everything on his phone and wouldn't use a wallet
A fossil
Record player and/or collection of classic vinyl

Etsy. There are lots to choose from on there. He particularly wanted something he could treasure forever and he loves it. We actually had it engraved with all of our initials not just his.

Does he have any favorite teams or bands so you could get him a hoodie or a t-shirt from the merch store? Or check out www.redbubble.com/, there are various clothing items from independent artists, some of them offer fanmade merch.
Could also be DIY stuff like a custom photo calendar or a framed picture collage of his favorite artists for him to have on the wall if he enjoys things like posters.

Tickets to events he might enjoy, maybe concerts or something like that.

Tech stuff like headphones or a gaming headset if he plays computer games. Depending on his hobbies, could be software, like a photo editing program or a video editor like Clipify or Adobe Premiere.

If he likes wine, a Le Creuset corkscrew and wine saver stopper.

I recently found one gift that you could buy anyone for any occasion and it's so unique. Recently I ordered a caricature of me and my two best friends for a friend's birthday. I ordered it from a site called CaricatureMaster. They did a great job! I also ordered a framed poster from them and it was beautiful!
