What type of sweet are PEZ?

Are they sherbet like a love heart? My Ds wants some rare PEZ dispenser, but I'm not actually sure he will like the sweets as he's verrrrrry fussy and dislikes sherbet. And I'm a stingy mum

They're not fizzy, more just a sweet that dissolves. Perhaps pick up a pack for him to try without the dispenser?

helloisitmeyourelookingfor · 15/05/2022 18:38

They literally taste like eating chalk

Marmite27 · 15/05/2022 18:39

They’re like love hearts or swizzles

I haven't had them for years, but remember them as tasting/mouth-feel similar to Dextrose?

notbeentotgegymforyonks · 15/05/2022 18:41

He likes those sweets that come on an elastic necklace or watch .. is that the type ?

Ha ha .. he's been going on about it since seeing them at Peppa pig world in the overpriced gift shop. But they do seem very expensive, I guess as it's imported.

They are very similar in taste and texture to the sweets on the elastic.

BertieBotts · 15/05/2022 18:48

Yes they are like elastic sweets. I think I'd call it candy.

SIL is always sending them over so I assume they are cheap somewhere. Try B&M.

Yep can get them in pound shop or b&m for a pound.

givethatbabyaname · 15/05/2022 19:27

You can get the dispensers without the candy inside. Check out eBay or something. Stores in the US do dispensers alone but that’s probably not viable for you if you’re in the U.K.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 15/05/2022 19:33

The range sells the sweets and dispensers. I think the sweets £1 a multipack and I think the dispensers are £1.50. They might not do your rare dispenser but the sweets are one size fits all.

ShakespearesSisters · 15/05/2022 19:34

Primark do lots of different style dispensers I think.

Isitcake · 15/05/2022 19:36

DD got hers in b&m with her pocket money.

PonyPatter44 · 15/05/2022 19:37

They sell the packs of the sweets in B&M and Poundland. Maybe buy one of those, and let him see if he likes them, especially if he doesn't like fizzy sweets generally. The fizzy PEZ are the only ones I really like!

Yes I would say they are most similar to those

Tormenteddd · 15/05/2022 19:47

It’s all about the dispenser not the sweets anyway 😉

alfagirl73 · 15/05/2022 19:53

Gosh - it's years since I've seen/eaten PEZ! Had many dispensers as a kid. Yes - the sweets are mostly like the ones on a sweetie/candy necklace.

notbeentotgegymforyonks · 15/05/2022 23:31

Thanks will go bargain hunting for Pez
