Small treats that perk you up…

Partly because a cost of living thread brought to my mind the fact that nail Polish and lipstick sales soared during the 2008 crash and the fact that I’ve just received some amazing koi nail art stickers from Ali Express £2. I thought it might be nice to have a thread of small/inexpensive treats for inspiration.

Another thing I bought recently was this rollerball pen £6 that takes fountain pen ink cartridges and I already had some mixed colours so I popped a cheery purple ink into mine. www.amazon.co.uk/Herbin-Transparent-Rollerball-Pen-Fine/dp/B009IJIVT6?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1

A cycle ride to the beach and an ice cream.

Ooh I got a lemon top a few weeks ago and it was wonderful! Has to be on a sugar cone though 😊

I was once gifted a MontBlanc pen by a client as a thank you in my first job out of uni. I regifted it at Christmas to my then boyfriend’s father, I had no idea how much they were worth! (On a tangent)

Rewatching downton abbey, it's just comfort TV!
A little chocolate treat, lindt bunnies around Easter or malteasers are my new favourites.
Preferably both together!

I have a Royal Albert tea set for one. I asked for it for my 50th as I love settling down to a rewatch of Downtown Abbey with a pot of tea. Everyone knows not to disturb me when the tea set comes out 😂.

I love a bottle of Jam Shed Malbec. It really hits the spot and makes me do a little happy dance.

I would have said horse riding but I find I’m getting too old and feel it later. So…
a rose tea in the mid morning or An early cocktail with visitors

Freshly washed sheets, that are crisp and cool when you flop into them after a bath, in fresh pyjamas. It's my absolute favourite thing, extra bonus points if line dried too! If I know I have a particularly stressful day coming up, I'll pop my sheets in the wash on my way to work, line dry them all day if weather allows, or leave them and pop them in the dryer when I am home. Then by the time I have bathed they are ready. I always hate doing it first thing, but really love myself for still doing it by the time 9pm rolls around!

Fabulous smelling handwash. My current favourite isn’t much of a treat though - it’s Paradise from Aldi!

I recently started using a tip off here to buy a lovely bubble bath - I like those imperial leather ones which are £1 - and refill all of your empty hand wash dispensers with it! It’s a tiny treat washing your hands.

Montezuma white chocolate chili and mango caramels. Sound awful, taste divine. I chuck a packet into the freezer every 6 months or so and use sparingly for comfort emergencies.

Hand-wash. Noble Isle Rhubarb, reserved for me. Visitors can use the soap

Sitting in the garden with coffee in the morning. I’m doing it right now. It costs the same amount as lying in bed with coffee, or sitting on the sofa with coffee, but the birdsong and fresh air totally changes my mood.

Epsom salts. I love a bath with Epsom salts and some bubbles. My skin feels soft too.

Bibbetybobbity · 16/05/2022 08:24

Pret cook at home chocolate croissants. Buy from sainsbury’s and cook when I fancy a treat breakfast. Miles nicer than the one in pret tbh because they’re freshly cooked and obviously cheaper 👍🏻

Thank you for this, ordered some with my Tesco delivery and they were just lovely for a Saturday morning breakfast!

Buying a coffee. Instead of making a shit one at home. Absolute dreams!
