3 Things You’re Grateful For Today

I just read something about mindfulness & friends have mentioned that they keep “ gratitude diaries”. I’m having a really rough time health wise at the moment so thought I would start writing down 3 things, however small, that I am grateful for.
1.I have enough to eat
2.My family & friends are great
3.I can play the piano

My cat for being funny, my Bose Bluetooth speaker for my music which I'm enjoying now, my mum for helping me with some shopping today.

  1. My son. Earlier, while it was sunny, we sat outside and he was singing to himself as he pottered about. He is 8 so I don't know when/if this singing aloud thing ends (not something I ever did as a child) but I loved secretly listening to it.
  2. M&S cranberry and pecan loaf, what a treat! I eat it with Tesco value Brie as it's creamy and mild.
  3. My new set of coloured fineliners - they're only cheap ones from Poundland, but it will be satisfying to use them on my diaries.

  1. That youngest DS’s passport has been printed so we will get it back before our holiday in 3 weeks. First time we’ve been able to afford a decent holiday in 20 years. Youngest’s first time on a plane which he’s so excited about! Really stressed and worried we’d have to cancel and wouldn’t have been refunded.
  2. The thick trainer socks DH bought me yesterday. I got a horrific blister from attempting a 10k walk in thinner ones last weekend. Much better walk this morning. Also grateful for DH who still does little thoughtful things like that after 29 years together.
  3. Taking DS to pick up his new glasses earlier - so grateful children in this country have access to free sight tests and glasses so can see clearly and comfortably when in so many other countries they do not. I have 3 out of 4 DC short sighted like me. Having had to wear ugly NHS specs when as a teen which made me look like an owl, grateful DC can get trendy specs for free too!

  1. My gorgeous 8 month old DD who is just loving life right now. Seeing her take in the world around her and how happy and confident she is makes me so happy.
  1. Knowing the people around me - my lovely family and friends - are happy and healthy
  1. The massive mac and cheese I've made for dinner, just needs sticking in the oven for half and hour to give it that nice crispy topping. Perfect dinner for a rainy Sunday evening 😁

I find being grateful difficult. To whom should I be grateful? Most of the things I have are because I've worked hard to get them, they weren't given to me.

Happy I finished our financial year end yesterday.
Happy I had lunch with my mum Friday, followed by going out with the girls for Thai and lots of wine.
Happy I'm going to see Top Gun next week with 2 friends.

  1. Spending the weekend doing lots of fun, wholesome activities.
  2. My beauty of a daughter.
  3. Having enough money that my cupboard is full of food and my car has a full tank of petrol

My little boy is a lot better today. I’m so happy about that.

I am looking forward to a nice dinner this evening. I am so grateful that I’ve got enough food to eat, and a little bit of money to buy a delicious treat for myself

My and my family's health, and that we all have each other. That's the main one as I have been thinking about Deborah James a lot today. My hobby (running). Holidays.

  1. My family - DH, my wonderful DCs and their equally wonderful partners. So lucky to be very close to them all.
  2. My health. Had a cancer scare at the beginning of the year but quickly dealt with and the outlook is positive
  3. My pension. I had a career I loved and count my blessings every day that it came with a good pension.
Justkeeppedaling · 15/05/2022 19:49

• The NHS, even with all its problems

• That I have a job that pays well and I like

• My two lovely daughters

Eggshausted · 15/05/2022 20:38

I am glad for the cosy bed I have. I can’t imagine having to live on the streets.

I am lucky to have enough money to eat and pay my bills and save a little.

I am lucky to be alive. I’m 55, and so many friends, celebrities and family have not been so lucky. Have lost 3 friends in the last 2 years, younger than me.
