Secret research to live deep underwater?

150million invested into researching whether we can live deep under water, company name not given, the diving centre closed with no warning and nothing mentioned about this until now. Seems a bit freaky to me.. perhaps climate change is going to put us underwater much quicker than we think?!😅

Whats other peoples thoughts?

Where are those screen shots from, what is your source?
I guess it's the same as all those scientists investigating whether we could live on the Moon, or Mars. I don't think it's something to worry about necessarily, but I do think it would be pretty interesting.

It's probably impossible and some company has lost a huge chunk of money on this research. The bottom of the sea is less explored than space, isn't it? And equally as hostile to human life.

Fwiw, I am frustrated with people who spend money looking for somewhere else for humanity to settle. Just fix what's happening on earth ffs.

People are researching all sorts. Doesn’t mean anything is happen or there’s a conspiracy.

research programmes are shut down all the time too.

I agree that it seems freaky. I was aware of the closure of the diving centre because it was in all the scuba diving magazines/website/social media etc. It was a much loved facility and one of the few inland training facilities that was deep enough for more advanced training.

Until this news, I think many just assumed it was just another victim of the pandemic. But now it looks like more than that?

This is a straightforward tale of one business closing, and another coming along to buy the resources and use them for their own purposes. I can't see any unusual angle on this, other than the business resource (a water filled deep quarry) is a bit more interesting than a typical business unit and equipment.

We know it doesn’t work - lots of attempts already. Won’t stop people pouring money into fantasies tho!

WeAreTheHeroes · 15/05/2022 09:59

The OP's pictures aren't unreadable? Anyway sounds like a huge waste of money and I agree with the pp who stated we should fixing the issues we have instead of looking for another environment to wreck.

Or possibly the owners of the quarry had no plans to close until they received an offer they felt they couldn't refuse.

NDAC was very popular within the diving community and also used for police/military training. It was very sudden and a shock to many when they closed.

Perhaps they received a good offer for the site and took the money. Another totally normal business transaction if that's the case. It would be simple enough to check Companies House to see what state their accounts have been in recently.
