What kind of passport do I need to apply for???

I am sure I am not massively stupid but I can figure out what type of passport I need to apply for.

I have a passport. It expires in August. It is also in my maiden name.

(I last travelled abroad on my honeymoon, and since then have had no money until earlier this year l, so had no motivation to pay the fee to just update my name on a passport I wasn't going to use, as couldn't afford to go abroad!)

I have a holiday booked for September. So, I need a new passport for two reasons - 1, my existing one will have expired, 2, my existing one is in the wrong name.

But what do I tick on the form??

It can't be a renewal because my name has changed.

If I tick "changes" will I get a passport in my new name, but still expiring in August??

Wtf am I meant to apply for?!

HELP!

Changes will give you a new 10 year passport.

I have just done this and did changes to my passport, I got a new 10 year one :)

Thank you!!

Why doesn't it just say "you will be issued a new 10 year passport" on the bloody booklet!

Thank you so much.

You dont have to change your name if you dont want to. Just make sure you book your holiday in the name on your passport

I did that for my honeymoon, but as my passport needs to be renewed anyway (expires August, holiday September) it makes sense to renew in my actual name! Also holiday already booked, again in my married name.

It does state it online tho

www.gov.uk/changing-passport-information

Online passport applications are the way to go. Dont do a paper one unless you absolutely have to.

Make sure you update your vaccine passport if it's in your maiden name.

It shouldn't be, I've not done anything in my maiden name for 9 years!

You're all sorted then. I recently changed my name and passport and hasn't even considered my vaccine passport which was in maiden name.

Would also suggest getting your updated photo done at timpsons/post office etc. it seemed to make a massive difference in how quickly your application is approved.
