Passports. Hope for one and all (I hope)

Fingers crossed! Applied for 3 renewals online on 23rd April, posted old ones back on 26th April and had confirmation of delivery by Royal Mail on the 27th. Received emails yesterday and today to say they have been printed, so all being well, should get them next week. In total this is around 3 weeks from start to finish! I know I haven't got them yet so probably shouldn't jinx it, and I am in no way being a smug git, but I just thought I would share a positive story as it all seems to be bad news about the buggers lately. Have had a few squeaky bum moments after hearing about all the delays, but hopefully The Holiday shall now commence woohoo 🙌

I sent DS1s old passport back last week.
No sign they have received it and I can't find my proof of postage 🤨. How long do you think I should wait?

Mine took three weeks... incredibly efficient service all round I thought

Which office processed the passports? I've got three (myself and my two kids) going through at the moment.

It took the passport office over a week, i think about 10 days to confirm delivery of my old passport even though I had proof of delivery.
However the day after delivery confirmation I got application approval, the next day printed confirmation and the next day delivery. It was about 2 weeks and 2 days all in all.

When you call to check progress they state that you should allow 2 weeks from receipt at the passport office for your documents to be loaded to your application. My application was processed really quickly once my dd's birth cert was added to the system but it took just over 2 weeks from when it was signed for at the passport office to actually show online on the application tracker.

Mine took more than three weeks to acknowledge receipt of old passport. Then the 10 weeks start from the date they process the returned passport not the date you started the application or the time you have proof they received the passport

Ds's renewal took 3 weeks- glasgow office

I don't think I had acknowledgment that they had received anything until almost 2 weeks later. They seemed to be really slow initially and then suddenly daily messages.

One went to Liverpool and the other 2 to Peterborough. The Liverpool one was a day ahead of the Peterborough ones 🤞

Oh, am I being a bit presumptuous that it's all going well then?

Did DS’s child renewal online on 23rd April,
Old passport received on 27th,
Receipt acknowledged on 6th May,
Photo rejected on 10th,
New photo uploaded on 11th, accepted and application approved on same day,
Got a message today to say it’s been printed and I’ll be contacted shortly for delivery

So from old passport received to printing, 16 days. Hopefully receive next week.

Am so happy as holiday in 3 weeks!

I applied for daughter's renewal on the 20th, sent old passport off the next day. They received it, but took a few days to connect it to her application. (Bank holiday in the middle) In Monday they said it was being printed, new passport arrived on Thursday! Great, didn't take long, but DHL delivered it and posted it through the door without me signing for it! I wasn't home (missed by about 20mins) as they delivered early before the times they said they would. If they'd got the wrong house, what would've happened? They also decided to post to me my neighbours delivery as well, not impressed! So had to take that round.
I know they're trying to clear a backlog but I'd rather make sure the passport got to the right address.

I hope not, I am in the same situation as you, we go away in 9 weeks and was worried when it says the 10 week wait starts from the time they receive the old passport. fingers crossed for us both.

DS’s child renewal passport received today 19 days after old passport received, 23 days after online application on 23/4. Old passport received back on Saturday.

Am well impressed considering the recent news reports and hope anybody else waiting for theirs gets them in time for when they need them.
