Turns out I can't actually 'block' someone from my phone...?!

I blocked someone on my phone. I knew they could still call, but it just shows as missed call on my phone and goes to voicemail I think? But I didn't know the text messages would still come through to my phone!! Wtf! I've just accidentally found a load of messages in a 'blocked' folder on my phone going back to last year. I thought texts just wouldn't get delivered like with whatsapp- I'm sure if you block someone on there the messages just don't reach you.
Do not go looking if you don't want to ruin your Friday night. So upset. Feel like the only option now is to change my number.

I’m pretty sure text messages get blocked on iPhone but I think there is a blocked folder for voice messages. What phone do you have? If you block a number in your phone’s software, it is isn’t blocked from WA unless you block on there specifically.

I had to replace a handset due to this, luckily a family member had a spare one that didn't have this stupid blocked folder nonsense.
I didn't have the resolve not to check it occasionally which really shit me up whenever I did, so I do sympathise.

It's Samsung. Just randomly looking at some settings and came across this folder of blocked messages. I mean, it was great when I didn't know it was there. I obviously didn't see the messages at the time. But now I know they have just been diverted to this folder the whole time!

If I block someone mine handily notifies me about my "spam and blocked" phone call/text. Totally defeats the object!

I know it sucks, I managed to find a setting to stop it bloody flashing up that a blocked call had phoned/text but I did look online and there seemed to be no option for your phone to stop storing the texts!!
My phone (Huawei) just bleeps to the person when they ring, no voicemail when I block a number.
I am going to change my number soon. I've had it ten years and I've never remembered it.
Think you'll probably feel better if you change yours too.

iPhones block numbers properly, android is terrible for having blocked number folders. I’d change phone.
