Passport only took 2 weeks

Just in case anyone is panicking (I did having read the news)

I renewed a passport online and it only took just 2 1/2 weeks to be delivered back to me all done!

so do not despair!

We are 9 weeks and still waiting for one we applied for in March.

It seems such an unfair system that there's no order to how they are being processed. I recently renewed 4 passports (sent to two different centres) all came back between 2-3 weeks. Yet some are waiting along time.

Yes, it’s v odd.

I got an email saying I should send the passport (had done so 10 days ago) which made me panic a bit because I thought it was lost and I actually had to send another country’s passport with it to prove identity and then they found it and printed it almost immediately after.

That's nice for you. I applied at beginning of February and still waiting. By my counting its 13 weeks but they insist it will only be 10 weeks on 16th May. I don't know what alternative time zone they're in 😡

Same, DTs were back in ten days.

It's really odd, I did my daughters and it took 2 weeks but I have friends waiting since February. It feels like those who submitted earlier in the year are waiting longer than people who are sending it in now!

Same here, took only 2 weeks for mine and ds to renew, my dh is still waiting. His went to a different office to ours, I do think its potluck at the moment.

3 1/2 weeks so far and still waiting, family of 5 2 adult renewals and 3 child’s renewal’s not one back yet. This is Durham office not heard a thing yet, I know they have them as I sent the next day before 1pm with Royal Mail but they’ve not been updated as received on the system yet.

Durham is the worst. I heard a rumour that they are priortising April applications to make the figures look better. My 11th of March application is only just being posted.

Mine was an April application just before Easter and still not showing. So I am a good month behind you @bridgetjonesmassivepants post and let us know how you get on.

I panicked because I’m going away in August and applied for my renewal online just over 2 weeks ago, thought maybe I was cutting a bit fine with the current backlog but I got a notification yesterday that the application was approved and a notification today that it’s been dispatched! That was the Liverpool office.

However, my sister applied for hers about 10 weeks ago and they still haven’t acknowledged receipt of her old passport. Hers went to Durham I think.

It is a real lottery.

We applied for DD3's passport renewal at the end of March, changing this time from a child's passport to her first adult one. Peterborough office. We were lucky and had the new one back within three weeks but plenty of people are having to wait much longer than that.

The system is shit and unfit for purpose.
