Boring one - when to give out party invites?

Incredibly dull question but DS is having a birthday party on the last weekend in June, would you give out the invites before half term or when they go back on the 6th? I want to give people enough notice.

I'd give them out after half term. Parents may forget to reply because of the break, at least afterwards it will be more fresh in their minds.

I’d say before half term

FlowerTink · 13/05/2022 12:18

Before half term, gives you enough time to chase any people too.

TinyBearCub · 13/05/2022 12:23

Before. Gives you time to check with any non-responders, which, ime, is fine to do as most people will be glad you reminded them!

My DC1's is mid/late June. I gave invites this week. Had some replies already, others will trickle in. I know all the parents of those invited so will ask them after half term if they havent replied.

I have this dilemma too .. is a months notice too much ?

popandchoc · 13/05/2022 12:29

I gave out invites today for party in 4 weeks.

Heckythump1 · 13/05/2022 12:32

2/3 weeks ahead is fine - I've had a couple recently with over a months notice which is just daft!

We’ve gone for warning people 6-8 weeks in advance because, we, like others, are currently booking to see people in June/July and if that means we see family on a Sunday rather than a Saturday then it’s helpful to know. (Equally, someone hadn’t spotted that their date of choice was Father’s Day and got the chance to move the party so more people would come).

Real invitations turn up about 3-4 weeks in advance. More difficult if you don’t have contact details for parents.

Thanks all. I'm leaning towards before half term then as it seems the majority of responses are saying that!
