I would. There's no meat. Just heat to piping.

CurryandSnuggle · 13/05/2022 10:41

I think 6 months maximum. I wouldn’t personally eat something that old even though it’s been frozen

ShirleyPhallus · 13/05/2022 10:42

Yeah it will be fine, it might taste freezer burnt but won’t kill you

Id also eat meat that long though too, I think people are generally a bit precious about use by dates etc and that it’s the quality that deteriorates rather than being unsafe to eat

It'll be fine, it's been frozen! If you look at ready meals, lots of those have dates of several years on them.

Bramshott · 13/05/2022 11:15

I think the "rule" is 3 months for meat and 6 months for everything else, but I'd eat a meat-free meal from August 2020 without a qualm!

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 13/05/2022 11:18

It will be safe to eat if it's been stored correctly but the quality won't be as good. I have a frozen food business. Our meals have 6 months best by dates on them.

Chaoslatte · 13/05/2022 11:19

I’d eat that without even thinking about it! Stuff doesn’t go off in the freezer, it might just deteriorate in terms of texture and flavour a bit.

My mum won a Turkey and ham one Christmas but she was coming to us for dinner and we had already organised our food so she stuck them in the freezer. We had them for our dinner on the October bank holiday so ten months later and they were absolutely fine. DH was horrified but it the dinner was lovely 🤣🤣🤣.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 13/05/2022 11:41

Of course you can eat it.

the quality might degrade over time but the food is still ok to eat practically indefinitely.

soundsofthesixties · 13/05/2022 13:36

I've got things in my freezer that have 2023 dates to eat by. I'm sure you can keep stuff for months or years. I had chicken last night that I froze last August.

purplesequins · 13/05/2022 13:42

almost indefinitely if no/minimal temperature fluctuation.

in housekeeping at school we were told that pre-cooked meals containing meat should be used within 6 months and vegetarian 12 months.
