I really struggle to understand

I'm not old old but really do struggle to understand what some people say on Mumsnet and other platforms what I call secret codes talk I understand some but not all
DM dear mother DMIL DFIL dear mother or father in-law DS-DD dear son or daughter SW social worker SM social media SAHM stay at home mum WFH work from home DSIL DBIL dear sister or brother in-law Thats all I know sometimes I have to Google it then come back to read it again is there anymore to add to the list that I don't know 😊

SIL could be son in law or sister in law and sometimes it takes careful reading to work out which one the poster means, especially if it's in a 'family saga' post where there's a lot of 'he said, she said' going on. You might start out thinking the OP is talking about one but then carry on and find that it's the other.

Its just site specific jargon. I've been on here for a decade and am fluent in it to the point where I sort of think in the DH/ DD terms in my head. You get used to it.
